The nice thing about having 8 gigs of RAM is the ability to have three AV progs hunt down offending trash at the same time while being able to surf the net keep Civ V open and listen to tunes. Doesn't even come close to using 5 gigs but having the extra is beneficial to not having to shut down something in order to run one AV prog.
I'll never again limit myself where RAM is concerned.
You shouldn't be using more than one anti-virus program at a time, they work independantly. AVG and Norton don't work together.
Who uses Craptastic Norton?!? I spit on Norton. I haven't run Norton since my first color monitor back when AOL was the only major provider for Internet. Back when Netscape was the browser of choice if that tells you anything.
I only use AVG, Spyware S&D and MalwareBytes. And I can run them all just fine together. They work quite well at cornering unwanted files that love to move around to avoid detection if one don't get it the other two do. And it's never the same two to pin things down. Now if I were to use Norton I'd come up with all kinds of false positives or no results when I know for a fact the behavior of my system doesn't correlate to the results.
But yeah I catch your meaning, I just don't use that adhoc trash on my systems and I always try to keep anyone I know from using it too. Hell as far as I am concerned Norton is
a virus. Anything that is so interwoven into every file you have on your system that holds it hostage in order for you to pay the fee to update it and free your files is a virus imho. You shouldn't have to go to any developer to download a removal tool to rid your system of it. Ick! can't believe you would think I would run Norton alongside anything .
Is okay though I do forgive you.
