dont use the core temps. you want to watch the socket temps.
as he said, the core temps are waaay off.
no way my cores were at 34* and my socket was 56* both peaking in prime

Socket temp is a probe behind the socket and is inaccurate CPU temp is socket temp,

Everyone is right core temp has a 7 to 10c offset but after 45c it levels out and is right.

Cant remember where read but look in the phenom 11 club.

Ok then. So assuming Core Temp is off by 10 degrees, I just add 10 degrees to my readout. Right now sitting mostly idle my core temp says 16c. So then I assume i'm at 26c. Everything I have seen about Phenom II X4's is that they can handle up to 70c. So under load, I have to assume I am at 39c, but to be even more safe i will say 40c. That still leaves me plenty of headroom to work with here.

Well I am sitting at 4.1ghz right now. Gonna do the Prime95 burn in later. For the next few hours I am going to just work with my PC as normal and see how it goes. I bumped up my NB just slightly as well, and so far so good. Gonna try to get the max stable OC on the CPU first and then work more with the NB and RAM.

I saw a post earlier in the tread talking about the VRAM. Was that meaning the RAM on the video card or just the DDR2 800 I am using for my system RAM? Either way, both have coolers on them. I am using some older OCZ ram that has the ATI logo on it. It's been good to me though, so I haven't felt the need to replace it yet.

I'm still wondering how you guys get clocks like that at such low volts. Thubans are all the same right?

Two hours into a Prime95 burn and my temps are holding at 48c. I didn't adjust my voltage at all and still stable at 4.1ghz. I am betting I can get to 4.3 with this cpu on air. This is by far the best AMD overclocking chip I have ever had (which isn't saying much since it's only my third).

The ASRock A770DE+ is a low end, low cost board with a very weak 4+1 power phase, it is really not designed for safe overclocking with aftermarket/tower CPU coolers....

Thats what I thought originally when I got it. It was just supposed to be a stepping board to get me from AM2 to AM3 without having to upgrade everything. It overclocked my 5400+ BE really well, and then it overclocked my Phenom II X3 715 really well. Had the 715 running stable at 3.6ghz with no issues.

Now it's running my 960t at 4.1 with no issues. If the board fries then fine, I didn't spend that much on it, but so far i'm loving it. It may not have been designed for awesome overclocking, but it sure does perform well.

Definitely with the 960T sporting a 95W TDP unlike other Phenom II cores I'd say you definitely have more headroom than usual.  No matter what you do, at least - cool the VRMs!  Put a fan there or throw some heatsinks on them.  Leaving them completely bare and with absolutely no opportunity for heat dissipation.  The fragile and active MOSFET transistors do not have much of a surface area and are often hidden behind chokes/other items that may block whatever sideways airflow, making it extremely hard for heat to dissipate.  MOSFET transistors are not capable of supplying/converting as much amperage if they are running hotter.
