Jumping The AMD Ship For Intel - New MOBO & CPU

Hi guys,

I have decided that i want to upgrade my CPU & M/B Within the next Month or so. I Mainly use the PC For gaming (BF3, Skyrim, CS:S) internet and watching movies, Im looking to spend around the $500-600 mark as i'll be getting another 560GTX for SLi.

What im needing to know is what from my current Sig rig i should keep and what i should scrap (RAM or or no?) and what boards and chips would you suggest.

Brand wise i would prefer to stay with either ASUS, Gigabyte or MSI as i've never had issues with these brands. Also i would like to have something that will beable to OC well and can handle the Next Gen Intel CPUs - Im not across how Intel do there CPUs as my last intel machine was a Pentium 3 1Ghz.

Any suggestions and links would be fantastic.

Thanks and Happy Holidays to all

Hito

i5-2500k - $219 Before Taxes
Asus P8Z68 Deluxe/Gen 3 - $269 before taxes

You might have to change out the RAM. Don't know if they work with 2000MHz. I see them listed to work with: 1333\1600\1866\2133\2200. G.Skill has a bunch of 8GB kits going for some low prices. They are usually cheaper. I got the Ripjaws X version of the Snipers that I listed for $45. That $43 kit was actually going for $30 on Cyber Monday and a few weeks after that. Just keep checking.

G.Skill Ripjaws X8GB 1600MHz Cas 9 - $43
G.Skill Sniper 8GB 1866MHz Cas 9 - $49

You should look at the description again. It actually runs at 16x with a Single Card or 8x/8x for dual cards. That like a few FPS loss from 16x/16x. If you want 16x/16x pick any board with a NF200 chip. MIV, WS Revolution.

The board that I'm using is one of the two P67 boards from Asus that runs at 16x/4x.

Looks great! However, I would wait until boxing day to buy it. If G.Skill Ripjaws X 1600 1.5V goes on sale, get that RAM instead, which is neck and neck with the Vengeance.

i was also considering this board too

ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 Motherboard

its a fair bit cheaper which would then let me get a SSD as well and it will still be future proof enough for Ivy

the ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 Motherboard is a great solid mobo as you would expect from ASRock and yes, its IB ready

If it allows you to get an SSD, jump on it plus aggree with ^^^^ with G.Skill Ripjaws X 1600 1.5V which is neck and neck with the Vengeance but so you can go with what you like with apperence there. thumb.gif
