HTC sensation RAM qustion

greetings all

a friend of mine has the HTC sensation , but he is now saying that its kinda slow in responding and loading in general

he went to this memory status thing and saw that he has 100 MB of free RAM only

so the question is there is any way to force some background Apps to shut down (like end task in WIN) so maybe he can free some extra memory ??

any help will be appreciated

have him download an app called fast reboot. basically what it does is, it simulates a reboot by closing/restarting all core and user processes which frees up system memory. but that phone only comes with 768mb system ram. the majority of that is used for the os and other stuff. so in all actuality, there may be about 150mb-200mb left, which isnt much to work with when you start installing apps .

what version of android and sense is he running? android 2.3.5 with sense 3 has a built in task killer, which he can access from quick settings in the notification bar. beyond that moving everything he can to a microsd helps to.

right now with my desire hd 768mb ram as well with 2.3.5 and sense 3 I'm sitting at about 400MB used.

I have this exact phone. What he actually should do is pull the battery when he turns it off because it has fastboot enabled (which is like hibernate) so the RAM doesn't actually get flushed. On the other hand, for some reason this phone only has at most like 170MB of RAM free... even after a reboot it's fine though. (The task manager also says he's got like 560MB of RAM total too, once you add the used and free ram together, mines says so and tons of people on XDA too, it's fine)
