Safe to have psu out of case?

Thread Starter
I know this may sound stupid (as people use test benches) but the only way I can crossfire my cards is to take out my PSU (because on the one I have now I have a thermalrit shaman, which takes up 4 slots!), would it be worth having to take out the psu and sit it on the table behind the case in order to have a crossfire, or should I keep what I have now?

No problem with that, just might get a little more dusty, but no big deal.

At one point when I had a Sony VAIO desktop I had to keep the PSU outside of the case to keep the heat down. So I zip tied it to the outside and the made a cardboard side to the case out of a frozen waffle box. I truly wish I had pics to share, it was a sight to be seen. Never had any problems, ran alot cooler actually. Your system will be fine, my current case hasn't had the side attached in ages, it just runs so much cooler and quieter with it off.
