Would i have to pay import tax

I have been looking at gaming laptops and they are cheaper if you get them from the USA. I was looking at malibal and added my laptop and it came to $980 and with shipping an extra $120 would this cover all duty taxes from shipping to UK. I am just wanting advise as I don't want to receive another charge. any help is appreciated.

some times the import tax is included in the shipping. other times, its an additional charge. it should tell you on your checkout page.

Its difficult to 2nd guess cutoms. I received a i3 and Mobo bundle from a US buyer just yesterday and received no customs charge. The week before I received a GTX580 from Japan and was charged £34 import duty. The weight of a gaming laptop would most likely raise some eyebrows in customs and they will indeed add a charge. Unless you are someone you know can physically carry it back through I think its nailed on that you will get a charge. Have you asked the US Courier if they can guarantee all fees are included? I take it you need a laptop for the portability?

Usaually with electronics and other such items, it can come down to the value of the goods. Most countries have limits that if your under you dont have to pay import tax. It can also come down to things like educational purpose uses etc. A package can spend a fair amount of time at customs clearence get valued if need be or they view a reciept thumb.gif

They both seem decent value for money. Last gen components but they will still perform. What sort of games do want to play on the road?

Thats a very nice spec laptop but any of your options will mean you can play those games fairly well.
