New build, cant decide to get new gpu or not

Thread Starter
To start, gaming rig, upgrading from:

XFX 790i ultra Motherboard
E8400 Core 2 Duo
8GB DDR3 1333mhz
1TB WD Black Caviar 6gb/s HDD
XFX 850W Black Edition PSU
x2 BFG Tech GTS 250 Factory OC SLI
thats all in an Xclio Windtunnel which is getting replaced by a Corsair 500R

upgrading to:

ASUS P8Z68-PRO/Gen3 Motherboard
i5-2500k
8GB DDR3 1600mhz CL8
120GB SSD
The PSU and HDD mentioned above are swapping to his build, also the GPU's but thats why I'm making this thread.

EDIT: I play mostly MMO's/RTS (big SC2 fan/player) Currently playing SWTOR. I don't play BF3/CoD/Crysis or any of that crap, although im in the Tribes Ascend beta (tribes = greatest FPS ever), but the graphics for that are nothing compared to BF3. Skyrim is probably my most GPU intensive game atm and I play on an ASUS 22". In the future probably going to play Guild Wars 2/Diablo 3. Just so you guys can get an Idea of what I'm playing.

Thats the jist of it really. I have around ~$900 budget to work with, give or take $100, so maybe closer to a grand. The aforementioned parts (the ssd/cpu/mobo/ram) bring me to around $660 (also note there is no aftermarket heatsink) and I don't have to pay for the 500R as that will be a gift for xmas.

So I'm really in a bind here on what to do, I have some extra money to play around with and I still need to get a heatsink for the CPU as well. I was going to grab a hyper 212 EVO but the reason I was picking up the 500R in the first place was to get an H100. Previously (ive been unemployed for a while, got a holiday help job and am using the $$ to spend on upgrading before my employment ends) I had scratched the H100 from the build, for cost reasons mostly and I wasnt sure how much I'd be making. It turns out I'm making a nice chunk and there's room for it in the budget.

However since I didn't factor in this extra cash while I was doing the build in my head and over and over again on newegg, I realize now there's room for a GPU upgrade (or even a CPU upgrade 2600k) and now im stuck figuring out what the F I should do. I have no one to really ask for advice about this, the tech friends I do have are lame and always suggest things over exceeding my budget like going to socket LGA 2011(they really piss me off sometimes).

So, should I upgrade the CPU to 2600k, get a H100 and sit on the GPUs?
Should I get a 2500k, get a H100, sit on the GPUs?
2500k, CM 212 EVO, new GPU? If so which one?
or some other creative option you guys might come up with?
or spend all my money on hookers and blow?

Any feedback/advice would be much much appreciated. Thank you.

$900 from newegg, you can use the last 100 bucks for a better cpu cooler.

246

however, only choose the gpu if you wanna experience dx11 and stuff, your 22" monitor should not be able to push the gpus u got now to their limits due to the resolution.

what i can tell you is that u dont need ur current mobo, the gen 3. current day processors are not here yet to fully utilise it and the chances of gen3 being enabled in the future ivy bridge is slim. so if i wer u i'd save that money from the motherboard to use somewhere else.
Your cpu cooler: H100, in my opinion is overkill for your system, get something cheaper like H60 or Antec Kuhler H20 620 and buy a cheap 12 cm/120 mm fan and put it on the other side of the rad for push/pull config. , they're both decent watercoolers at a LOT cheaper prices. I know you want the Carbide for H100, but seriously its not worth it, unless you want rock solid temperatures. My current H80 is fine cooling down my i5 2500k @ 4.8ghz on the 'low' speeed it never exceeds 68 degrees. here you saved like $100 maybe and you have another $100 leftover, so you have money for a new gpu. for a $200 budget for gpu, in australia you can get the gtx 480 at msy for $278 AUD, imho its pretty cheap and its still one helluva beast.
with your current stuff, sell it. sell it to anybody on ebay for cheap prices, then you should be fine

Uh. MMOs and Diablo 3/GW2?

Why not wait a bit and see if your current specs will do the job? Skyrim seems like the most graphics intensive game you'll be playing for a while.

That said, get a better cooler for now and see how far you can OC your CPU.
