HAF X is a dust magnet

Thread Starter
I had this case for 3 months and had to clean it very often for it collects absurd amounts of dust, front and side fans get the worst of it top fan is no better.
Interior gets very dusty and I have 5 fans in there(3 on the video card, 2 on the cpu heat sink,) so I would think it wouldn't build up so fast...
My PC is in a (relatively) clean environment.

Any tips on air filters? I don't think the included are good enough.
I want to get lighting for my case, what would you recommend?
Would getting a cabinet for the thing restrict airflow too much? It would be a shame keeping this case out of sigh though may get something with windows...

Thank you for your time.

I don't seem to get that much dust and my HAF-X uses fans everywhere with stock filters, on the carpet. Have you tried elevating the PC?

the $70 price tag may be a turn off to some, but they are worth every penny.

I think the whole HAF series has dust issues..
Use some filters like ^ and should be fine!
Yep, those filters work wonders! I still had to get an additional filter for the back fan as it's for intake.

My HAF 912 is elevated off the carpet with a 1/2in piece of oak, and I purchased 3 sq ft of screen door mesh from the local hardware store. I cut each piece to shape for the case and layed them on top of the fans. The sides I taped on. filters dust VERY well, and I am very happy.

Total cost? $2. thumb.gif

Sure, here's some pictures.

450

450

For the side, I decided to go with blue tape for two reasons.
1) Looks were not an issue for now, as you can see. It's in the corner facing away.
2) Blue painter's tape is least likely to leave residue on the case after removal.

700

The front is still unfiltered, but looks sexy. (Lol at the dust tongue.gif)
