Headphone or Sound Card? Any suggestions?

Hi. Usually I need those audio gadgets for listening to Musics and sometimes for Gaming and I've already owned a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy Value and tweaked it to the X-Fi version. I wonder getting a good sound card like Asus Xonar DX or getting a good headphone for myself so that I'm able to enjoy better audio experiences.

Currently,I have a Phillips SHP2500 TV Headphone without Mic.I found that the sound quality of my Logitech X-230 speakers and my headphone improved a lot because of I changed the audio settings to Virtual Surround Sound settings with my tweaked Sound Blaster Audigy Value.

So I guess Sound Cards does really makes a lot of differences compared to the audio quality from the On-Board Realtek Sound Processor. That's why I suddenly thinking about upgrading my sound card instead of getting a new headphone. (I heard a lot of people said that the Asus Xonar DG will still be better than the Tweaked SB Audigy Value)

What I want is I'm able to enjoy Surround Sound Effects and Extra Powerful Bass with my headphone. And I don't think I need all those too expensive DJ headphones since I'm not a DJ or Sound Systems Professional. (I heard some people said Gaming Headsets are just Gimmicks and meant for those Fanboys too,I'm not sure it's true or not)

My budget is around $100.

Which option should I go for?
1. Change my sound card. (Example:Get a sound card like the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium or Asus Xonar DX)
2. Change a headphone. (Example:Get a headphone that is around $100)
3. Change both of them. (Example:Get a cheaper Headphone and Asus Xonar DG sound card)
4. Or maybe you guys have a better suggestion?

Sorry for my LONG story and Thanks for reading my post anyway.

Option 3. Get the best of what you can afford.

I was always under the impression that if you have a sound card you should use headphones with an analog connection: 3.5 mm. The USB headphones have their own drivers and therefore will not run off your sound card.

I got the Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium a few months back. Huge difference in games/ applications that run hardware accelerated sound. Only problem is that today many, if not all the new games and most programs use software emulation for sound, which processes mostly on the CPU.

Edit: fixed some grammar XD

Thanks for the replies guys. And yes I agree that picking headphones with 3.5mm jack plug instead of USB is the right choice since I have a sound card.
