Name Changes Halted - Page 3

It wont stop people abusing the system. If they want a new identity on the forum and don't care about REPs/Posts they could simply set up a new account, masking their IP by using a proxy, or IP masking software. This change won't stop people changing identity if they really want to.

I think it should be made so that people can change, in extreme circumstances where not changing might cause offence (due to changing social opinion, etc), or cause other problems within the forum community.

It's unlikely to happen very often that circumstances would be such that a name change would be the best possible solution to a particular problem, but it seems best to have the name change option available, if such circumstances occurred.

I do agree that it shouldn't be a unilateral member decision though. Name change should be allowed imo, but always with the authorisation of the mods. If the job of administering name changes is too much for the mods to cope with, perhaps a new mod could be appointed to deal specifically, or predominantly with name changes, thus relieving workload on existing mods and still making a name change possible in the right circumstances.

Just my

Highly-Annoyed

I definate if anybody wanted to get back on the forum, they could achieve that through masking, yes, but that isn't my point.

Coming on to this forum, I wasn't expecting to become a full fledged contributor (pardon my ignorance). If anything, it's a compliment because the first and only forum I am a regular at and contribute immensely.

I had recently had a name change and I never use D3DAiM. It makes me feel nooby

So yes, I wouldn't want to cause any hardship to anybody and I definately do not want to abuse this feature; I will have no future wants to change my name.

I feel a payment of some sort would be an apt exchange for a name change or other resources. Buying an overclocked account would be a perfect opportunity in this situation.
