Another thing, they probably wont run 4 harddrive,s 20 fans, 2 water pumps and 2 fan controllers and some cathodes on their test system.
Nevertheless i will try to run the 6990 and the 6970's on the 1kW unit, but to be safe i will porbably add another psu later on.
a 1200W supply puts out 34% more power than the 900W draw they were showing. a 1500W model (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817256054
) would put out 67% more power than the 900W draw (I defy you to draw that much DC power without sub-ambient cooling). given these are readily available (it's an 8 rail powersupply, to help prevent your house from burning to the ground should something go wrong), I don't see the benefit of tying in a second powersupply. An additional powersupply will reduce system efficiency noticeably.
If what you really want is validation that the dual PSU idea is good, just do it. I don't see the benefits - unless you're using a redundant PSU, which you're not.
