7.1 headset ?

Thread Starter
Hello. I am going to buy a new headset. But I do not know much about them.

I have tried on 2 creative products - Sound Blaster Tactic 360 Sigma and Sound Blaster Tactic 3D Wrath Wireless.
They were sooooooooooooooooooooo comfortable , and sound was amazing too. And they look wicked too.

I want the sound to be as real as possible , well - really really good. And , headset with wire , not wireless.
Both sound blaster products from creative were good , although I do not believe they are 7.1. I heard about Razer Tiamat 7.1 but it is not released yet.

So , should I wait for that razer product, or are there any true 7.1 headsets out there that would suite me ?

I've never liked any surround headset I've tried. I think many will agree that a good set of stereo cans is best, even for gaming. With surround headsets, it's difficult to hear certain sounds clearly such as footsteps.

This thread hasn't been updated for a while, but still has good info:

I personally have the Razer Cacharias phones, and am very pleased with them.

So , if I understood correctly , stereo headsets sound better than 7.1 ? But why , what's the difference? I thought 7.1 would be better , more realistic than stereo ?

Also Sound Blaster Tactic 360 Sigma or Sound Blaster Tactic 3D Sigma are stereo or 7.1 ?

So , I shouldn't wait for Razer Tiamat 7.1 ?

The difference is in the sound quality and the sound staging. You don't get positional audio, but with CMSS3D and good stereo cans, it blows away surround headsets. It's hard to describe, but with that setup, I am much, much more aware of things immediately around me, like players' footsteps, tanks and vehicles, in-game voices, etc than I ever was with a surround set.

And like I said, I've tried both and it's no comparison as far as I'm concerned. And I say this not being much of an "audiophile." When I play multiplayer FPS's, I am far more aware of my surroundings with my stereo headset. And the 5.1 headset I used to have was a good one, a Turtle Beach set with 5.1 and actual separate plugs for the channels so that it could run off the sound card, as opposed to USB surround headsets which don't even use your sound card. Even that wasn't as good as quality stereo cans with CMSS3D IMO.

YMMMV. I would get a good set of stereo cans and a surround headset and try them both out. You may like the surround set better, who knows, but be sure to try the stereo headset with CMSS3D on something like BF3.

So , for example : Creative Sound Blaster Tactic 360 Sigma + CMSS3D would be better than not released yet Razer Tiamat 7.1 smile.gif ? I assume 360 Sigma is stereo headset. Also , I really loved how they felt on me , that 360 Sigma headset and sound was good too , except , that's my opinion of half a minute testing it at a store. But , what is your opinion about this headset and Creative Sound Blaster Tactic 3D sigma, as 3D sigma is easier for me to get frown.gif ?

7.1 surround headphones are the best. You get so much more channels at a cheaper price than stereo (2.0) headphones. Highly recommended.
