RAM for ASRock Extreme7 - Page 2

From what I have read I don't think you'll see a noticeable difference unless you're benchmarking. A lower CAS will get you better scores and so will speed obviously. I think with Sandy Bridge you'll see more difference if you go to 16GB of RAM instead of higher speeds and/or lower CAS. But if you're not using more than half that 8GB you probably won't see much with that either. I was considering getting 2 pairs of that link I posted but I decided to wait and see how they work with this board first. Not to mention I got the last one and it's out of stock now, lol.

Nice, good to hear, and thanks wink.gif

I was real close to getting those because of the fact it was on the list and also that it's 1.5V. I did notice more than half of the memory that I was looking for wasn't even offered on Newegg any more or it was out of stock. Seems their list was pushing a lot of RAM that came with fans. Looks like a good choice as well. It was a toss up.

How about these: http://www.ramexperts.com/ddr3/mushkin-996988-8gb-ddr3-pc3-12800-frostbyte.html

or these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231461

I'm getting the extreme4 gen3, and trying to decide between the two. I think the mushkins will clock better. Not sure though thinking.gif

costs like half the price and is 1.5v. Do you really gain anything from 1.25 and 1.35?

I just installed the Mushkin I mentioned a few posts back. It OC's to 2133 without any problems at all.

I'm not sure if there is anything to gain with 1.25-1.35 boards. Unless of course they are capable of hitting 1.5V like this motherboard is made for. In that case you might get some decent OC'ing out of them. But I'm just speculating as I haven't tried lower voltage RAM on this board or other 1155's.

Here is a review of the snipers, looks like they'll do fine @ 1.5 - 1866 c9. Test rig is msi p67gd65 with 2500k, so there shouldn't be a problem as far as I can tell.

Also, 39.99 != 46.99/2 teaching.gif

i recomend, any decent 2 x 4GB 1600 or 1866 kit, corsair vengence, G.skil ripjawsX or snipers, muskins. timings CL9, 8 , 7. all will perform very similar to each other so go with what you like. Personal preference for me is G.skill ripjawsX 1600 CL8 thumb.gif

if you want to see any real world difference get 4 x 4GB kits biggrin.gif
