Single Bay 5.25" single channel fan controller for 252 cfm Delta fan?

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

I recently added a Delta "Mega Fast" 120mm 252 cfm fan. It gives me great temperatures, but the sound is unbearable (not for me, but for others who I live with/near biggrin.gif). Do you guys have a single 5.25" bay fan controller that can handle the high voltages the Delta spits out (listed here: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/8147/fan-500/Delta_Mega_Fast_120mm_x_38mm_Fan_-_252_CFM_-_Bare_Lead_PFB1212UHE-F00.html at 13.2V, but I suspect it's higher), preferably single channel (every other fan in my rad/case is handled elsewhere, so I don't want extra dials sitting around for no reason)? Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

First off the fan is not "spitting out voltage" the fan using the voltage supplied to it by the fan controller. Second if it is a standard PC fan It is meant to run at 12v as that is what is supplied by the PSU, the reason it says 13.2v is because that is an operating range; meaning that the fan can handle up to 13.2v without being damaged. The reason that the Delta fan requires a special controller is that it is a high wattage fan meaning that it requires more current to run. So this Lamptron 50w controller http://www.frozencpu.com/products/14172/bus-284/Lamptron_50W_-_4_Channel_Aluminum_Throttle_Style_Fan_Controller_w_Multi_Color_Backlit_LEDs_-_Black_FC-9.html?tl=g34c17s817 is the only fan controller rated to handle the Delta, At least the only one that FrozenCPU sells.

I would be careful even with the 50W controller listed by DSP1... That delta is rated for a current draw of 48W, but it will draw much more than that on startup (some fans even draw 2x their rated wattage when starting up). So it may blow up even that very high powered controller.

I suggest doing something like the 7V mod or even the 5V mod on the fan. That will make it run at slower speeds without the need for an expensive controller.

The 50watt FC9 controller is the largest that we offer, that is an extremely large fan however to be running inside a PC, that thing could basically cool the radiator on my car. lol
