Which RAM, also should I?

Thread Starter
Ok so here is the situation:
I have 12Gbs of DDR3-1600 RAM Total, One set is 3 x 2Gb Corsair and the other is a 3 x 2Gb G. Skill set. The two rams have different timings so I can't use them together for a stable over-clock. I've been using 6Gbs only for a while now. Should I get 16Gbs?

Since RAM is so cheap and I have a $20 off $40 for Newegg, I was thinking of buying new RAM, plus it would make my rig more future-proof.

What is the best RAM I can get under $50?

Is the Corsair Vengeance better than the G. Skill Sniper RAM? Is the Sniper series better than the Ripjaws?

I was thinking of buying two sets of either of these two, and leaning toward the sniper with low voltage.

Low Voltage Snipers:

1866 Mhz Snipers

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hmm.... I agree. Low voltage as it's much cheaper with the code and has better timings.

Yeah this seems to be the only 1.25v DDR3-1600 RAM. But the price isn't a factor as long as the RAM is $50 or less.

I don't even know if I should be getting new RAM or not.

Grab the 1866MHz ones. Timings don't matter as much with SB. Get the fastest RAM you can. smile.gif

No one is better than the other really....

I don't have SB! I have an X58 but I want my RAM to be future proof for IVY?

Another important question: If I buy the 1.25v RAM, will over-clocking that give me better speeds than over clocking the 1.5v 1866mhz RAM?

Wow, I am blind and tired lol. Sorry.

I really don't rely on "will the RAM OC well?" Overclocking stable isn't guaranteed.

Though I would get the 1.25v RAM in the case that you want to use it for future proofness...(I know it isn't a word lol)

But I am not sure whether it will matter 1.25v vs 1.5v with IVY.
