Do i need to upgrade my cpu to avoid bad fps or bottlenecking with eyefinity

Hi everyone , I am new here and pleased to be , Boxing days are soon and I want to start gaming in eyefinity , I readed a lot and the only thing I wonder is my cpu , will it get bottlenecked or whatever with my new 6950 unlocked and overclocked to a 6970

My systems specs are now

radeon 6950 flashed to a 6970
Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E7600
(3M Cache, 3.06 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB) overclocked to 3.7 ghz
4 x 1033 for the ram
asus striker II socket 775
air cooling with 7 fans

With my old 5770 and my e7600 not overclocked I was able to play battle field bad company 2 , all maxed out exept AA at 1080p on a 24 " hd monitor with 25-30 fps ( it was lagging a bit..) and when I overclocked it to 3.7 ghz I get mostly 40-50 fps and everything is smooth even when everything is in fire and smokey

I was wondering if i would really need to buy a new cpu.. I do not really want to buy a new motherboard.. my striker ii was like 500$ and it's a 775 socket, any suggestions of overclocking my e7600 to 4 ghz or I don't know , or maybe buying this cpu http://ark.intel.com/products/35428/Intel-Core2-Quad-Processor-Q9650-%2812M-Cache-3_00-GHz-1333-MHz-FSB%29? Will it helps me to get great fps in eyefinity or I am just wasting money for 2-3 fps? I just wanna know if my old cpu overclocked can handle my 6950 and eyefinity.. thanks!

Your cpu would be a bottleneck for cpu intense games. I wouldn't consider an upgrade to that processor unless you can find it for really cheap

Thanks for the answer, is my cpu would be a problem in bf3 ( in 3 screens eyefinity but a lot of people says that eyetinity is hard on the gpu and not on the cpu, if your cpu can handle the game with 1 screen , 3 screen will not lower the fps is it true

BF3 will stress any system. with a single GPU your going to have trouble with eyefinity and high settings. I would wait and see what kind of performance you get and see if its acceptable, but for eyefinity you really need 2 GPU's for high settings. On single monitor @1080p you should be able to rock mostly full ultra just fine:)

Thanks for the explication , I was wondering about this card

What's you're toughts for eyefinity? It's a dual gpu card and I could have one brand new for 360$ But I'm not sure if the video memory is 2gb or 1 gb because it says it's 2 x 1024.. For great eyefinity perfomance I'll need 2 gb ( like the 6950 or the 6970) and this card act like it's crossfire so I was wondering if it will use 2 gb of vram or 1 gb... I'D like to play in 5760 x 1080and I want to play games with at least 35 fps and high settings , this card perfoms really well , but I was wondering because the drivers are hard to make work and card with dual gpus are really trickys.. and aren't compatible with all motherboard.. Do you think it would work great with my asus striker ii? thanks in advance! thanks for taking the time for answer!

I'm talking about this card
