I would assume so, but I've only ever worked with the corehack in 10.10 server...I would assume, though, that it would be the same sort of thing..

so YES!

Any concerns about the longevity or reliability of using a USB stick long term?
These, as far as I know, don't use garbage collection or any type of cleanup like an SSD.
What has been the experience doing this over several months?

I haven't run one continuously for months, but I would assume that if any problems were to occur, a simple re-flash of the software would fix any problem. My prediction though is that there would be little to no problem with running this for months.

Thanks for the reply.
Yes it would seem to not be a problem.
I am just not sure about the amount and frequency of data writes to the drive during f@h.
This would be for mostly -bigadv WUs.

This is a great thread I support it and will try it soon!
Will this work if the PC has no OS on it? Also doesn't the motherboard have to support running from a USB drive?

Is there any reason why this just fragged my Raid-0 array? blinksmiley.gif

Went to install the Nvidia drivers because 800x600 just isn't my thing. As it came up for restart, the BIOS informed me that disk 1 of my RAID had failed. Shouldn't it be writing drivers to the USB? What the hell did I do wrong!?

I would have assumed that it should have written drivers to USB, but I don't know what happened there! I had never tried installing it on a system with SLI GPU's, so I never had to install any drivers.

Yeah, the PC doesn't even need a hard drive for this to function. And yes, it does, but I haven't come across a folding-capable computer yet that isn't able to do that.

Honestly, this was my first time in Ubuntu and it looked like a fairly decent UI (just wish I had the chance to test it a bit more). Now, on this USB version, does the actual OS see my hard drives installed (even though it's just running on the USB)?

I'd like to get to the bottom of this before I try again. tongue.gif

yes it does
for safety reasons you could unplug your drives but you should have been fine idk why it would have done that...
