dwm.exe memory leak? RAM usage spiking to over 1gb used just for dwm.exe

My aero keeps turning off automatically.
So I got to looking in task manager and i'm seeing my dwm.exe eating like 300-400 mb and then spike over 1gb sometimes well over (think 1.4gb)
thats when aero turns itself to basic etc.

any ideas?

Hmm, desktop window manager should not be using that much, it sounds like a GPU driver issue to me. Have you tried a full un-installation and re-installation of your GPU drivers?

Try disabling Windows Aero and rebooting, if that doesn't solve the problem try booting up in safe mode and see if it happens. If it does then you know it's not a 3rd party issue. Almost forgot, make sure that your Windows is up to date as there may be updates to fix said memory leak.

I will try this, but the whole point is that I kind of like having aero.
I mean I have 8gb of ram so it using 1gb wouldn't be a giant loss, but it turning off my aero constantly is a pain
