There's only a very negligible difference between a 970 and a 955, and a 960T is a better choice for some less. You may also be interested in the FX-4100 which is at an excellent $100 (after gift card) right now - it provides better single threaded performance (although not better multi threaded, though you can still expect some improvement from your current Athlon II x3) when overclocked compared to an overclocked Phenom II x4 at lower power consumption.
The (very overpriced) generic DDR3-1333 RAM suggested will not give you many options esp. if you want to mix bus clock & multiplier overclocking. There are, however, several performance-binned DDR3-1600 kits available for less, such as this one. By all means you can get significantly better memory for less, don't get that kit.
