Memory for new build ( i7 2700k)

Thread Starter
Hello

Looking for good memory (DDR 3).

I'm building a computer with a i7 2700K core with a ASRock board Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 board.

*I have around $100 to spend and I want 8 gig of memory.

I wanna overclock the CPU between 4.5 to 5.0 GHz if possible.

Any recommendations?

Is it because they are 1.5V? Newegg doesn't have those two but they have these. I thought have a lower CAS was preferred so wouldn't the 1600 be better with a CAS of 7? Of course the other is 1866 so obviously the CAS will be higher. Here are the two I'm referring to with similar codes.

I'm just curious is all because I'm still searching for some with CAS of 7 and 1.5 V. I've gotten the impression this is the best combo to have as far as 1600's go. Only one on Newegg is out of stock.

any 1600MGhz 8GB kit will do, personalally if you want to go higher speed. these G.skill 2133 would be awsome

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231476

or

these 1866 snipers

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231460 you could get 2 kits and have 16GB thumb.gif

Gonna throw out another suggestion if you want some speedy memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820144490

I picked these up recently (along with a 2700k) and everything has been working flawlessly. I'm running them at 2133mhz/9-11-9-28/1.65v just as they're advertised. smile.gif

Fast, tight timings, but slightly more expensive.

Thanks for all the help so far.

Is they much difference between running a 1600 or 1866 or 2133 on the system that I'm building? (for gaming use)

Anyways
I'm thinking about getting these below"

http://www.msy.com.au/product.jsp?productId=7665

or is it worth just getting a 1600 or 1866 with lower timings?

I ended up getting these this morning to go along with an ASRock Fatal1ty Z68 Gen3. Heard nothing but good things about Mushkin and these seemed like a good price.
