Win 7 x64 Background Intelligent Transfer Service missing

Thread Starter
Hey, i got a problem with Windows Update due to that the Background Intelligent Transfer Service is not working, in services.msc it says that BITS is set to launch automaticly, but it also says that BITS is not running so i try to start it and get a Error 2: Could not find the file (sorry its translated) so how do i reinstall BITS without having to reinstall Windows? or where to download BITS (if possible) and also where to put BITS.
apparently this is causing my Windows Update to freeze/crash and somtimes it freezes Windows Explorer aswell.

sorry if what i wrote didnt make sense coolsmiley02.gif

thanks in advance.

Try sfc /scannow to repair missing windows files. Then go to add/remove windows features and make sure it's installed ( should be)

Hey, thanks for replying.
i did do sfc /scannow and apparently it is a problem with my qmgr.dll and the CMD cant fix it, also i cant register it and replacing it does not help either, i did not quite understand what i was supposed to look for in the add/remove windows feature but there is no Windows Update entry in there.
is there anything else i could try? as i mentioned reinstalling windows is my last option, i got no other harddrive and i really dont want to whipe this one.

If you've done SFC and it still did not fix the issue, then it's time to perform a repair installation. smile.gif

Awesome. thumb.gif And the best part about the repair installation is you don't have to re-install your programs! biggrin.gifsmile.gif
