Thank you for the guide!

I followed it closely, and I'm rock stable at 4.7 @ 1.35v, and get a nice 21200 score on 3D mark 11.

But if I raise my 3930k to 5.1 @ 1.54v, then I get thottling... and a much lower 3D mark 11 score. My 3930k is nice and cool at 50 celsius at 5.1.

What do you tink is causing my thottling? VRMs getting toasty? Or a setting in the BIOS?

Did you try increasing the CPU Current Capability? The setting is on the Digi+ Power Control page. Raja stated that 180% is plenty.

If that doesn't do it, try increasing the long and short duration settings in the Turbo Power Limit Control section on the CPU Performance Settings page.

VRM heat is the likely cause, cool with a strong fan if possible.

Yeah, that was my problem. Those VRMs get toasty!

But I'm now using a waterblock on my RIV, so problem solved. smile.gif

But Asus should think about putting some VRMs temp sensors on high-end mobos... it would be REALLY useful.
