Abyssus Questions

Thread Starter
Just two quick questions about the Razer Abyssus.

1) Is it possible to disassemble it? Mine scroll wheel is squeaking and the warranty has run out. I thought I'd take it apart and fix it myself, but I am not able to find any screws.

2) Is it possible to disable the LED light? Most Razer mice lights can be disabled via official Razer software drivers, but I see no such option for the Abyssus.

Thanks!

I suspect the screw holes are under the feet, so you'll have to peel them off to disassemble it. The Abyssus was always marketed as a no-nonsense mouse, so there is no official software method to disable the lighting AFAIK. However, if you were going to disassemble it, you can probably very easily disable the light physically inside the shell.

I took the LED out of mine about a week ago. It is basically a one-minute operation. Take the big foot off by carefully sliding a thin knife under the foot, then unscrew the single screw. Put it down on the pad like you were going to use it and slide the body up and back. Unplug the LED. Put it back together and done. Abyssus Black Edition.

Side note, I bought the Abyssus a month ago sort of on a whim, turns out I really like it. Light weight, nice cord, no PCS issues (damn you, Spawn), works nice for playing low sens on the goliathus speed large size. The light was my one annoyance and that was easy to fix.

Thank you sir, I might do this as I find the led annoying aswell.

But you don't find the Abyssus cable stiff and annoying?
To me it's resisting me all the time, my Zowie AM has a nice soft USB cable.

I migt try to find USB cable somewhere and put in my Abyssus.
