I wonder if anyone has done this with a Direct CU ii GTX580??? Love to see a picture. Not sure if it would install with the stock backplate

In this thread from Extreme2 you can see his results wink.gif : http://www.overclock.net/t/1178955/corsair-h100-mode-gtx580-directcu-ii

Off-topic again: my PSU seems fine, it powers the fans and the other stuff, the discs spin etc... I'm out of ideas. I'm going to start a new thread in the Intel motherboard section rolleyes.gif

Are the temps really all that much lower than if you just added your gpu to your existing water loop? I am considering undoing this mod because temps are actually higher than wih my stock twin frozr II cooler. I used an H60 as an exhaust and the temps still reach 81C during gaming.

I would try reseating again. If your temps are that high then something is seriously wrong with mod.

I reseated, same results. Idle is fine however at 36C. I noticed as we, even when I put a 120mm fan below the card to cool the vrm's, they're cool to the touch on the front of the card, but the back is scalding hot. The card always ran hot though, even before the mod. Even the twin Frozr only kept the temps at 78C.
I'm thinking either i missed something big here, or I'm just going to sell my card and get something that runs cooler. Does anyone know if a gtx 570 runs cooler on average than what I'm getting here? If not I may just downgrade to a 460...

Did you connect the pump in your motherboard? Maybe it's not spinning at full speed because any bios setting. Check the rpm.

how do I check the rpm?
Edit: Never mind stupid question, haha just google it and find the answer tongue.gif
RPM's come to ~4400rpm, which I have read is full speed. I think my card may just be faulty. Even with the twin frozr cooler, the backside of the card will burn your finger.

Are you sure the block makes perfect contact? You used the zip-tie method, right?
How much TIM did you use?
Maybe the fan rad...

pump makes good contact. If i squeeze the pump against the card as hard as i can with my hand, there is no difference in temperature. I did use the zip tie method. it looks exactly the same as the pictures at the beginning of this thread. I used just enough TIM to cover the IHS. Not a glob, but not a speck either. The Rad is cool to the touch, as well as the pump. the only really hot parts are the backside of the gpu and the VRM's, which I cant seem to keep cool. Also, I tried changing the position of the fan aimed at the VRM's. From below, the backside of the card is hot, but the bottom is not. If I cool from on top, the backside is cool, but the bottom is very hot.
I just think the card is faulty. I wish I had another card to try the mod on...

Are the VRM naked? Or the card comes with a plate/heatsink that covers the mem/VRM? You need heatsinks in the VRM

You can use two fans, one to cool the vrm side and the other to cool the backside

If your gpu temp is still 81ºC the mod has failed someway and because this all the PCB is heating up sadsmiley.gif
