I've tested the above twice, same exact outcome twice.
So apparently changing to and from 5.1 to 2.1 requires restarting...or perhaps its a bug with Creative's Driver.
That problem is very typical of my experience with my old X-Fi Elite Pro.
Unless I shut off all programs that were processed through the card before I switched modes, my PC would freeze and I would have to restart. I have to say as my OS got older Creative's drivers gave me a great many headaches and would end up causing blue-screens as well.
I'd go here
and check every so often to see if PAX has created drivers for your Recon3D.
The PAX drivers are much more stable and are supposed to upgrade the performance of your sound card as well. I use them in my Titanium HD.
What is your opinion of Scout mode, and how does your Recon3D compare to your old X-Fi in gaming as well as on movies?
Thank you for posting your observations about the card! +RepEdited by tehRealChaZZZy - 12/23/11 at 9:34pm
