I've had unstable ram cause micro freezing and lockups before, but it's all been related to OC'ing. On the AMD side most of the time issues like this were caused by an over zealous CPU/NB overclock. I also had the same problem with an M4N82 motherboard that didn't like my 125 Watt processor, it's now happily running with an 840 in it. Every time I've ever had an issue with a HDD though it's always a bad sector and windows flips out when it finds that sector causing a BSOD.

As for a bad processor that seems unlikely, but I've seen re installing the OS can fix strange errors that you're never able to nail down to what actually causes it.

Thread Starter
I got really familiar with memtest last year, had a pair of bad sticks and figuring that out got me to this point.
