Hello and to the forums

Hyperthreading can limit an overclock somewhat, but I personally believe that the overclock is not limited to any great extent, and that if you are used to multi-tasking then the limit will be offset by the multi-tasking abilities inherent in the hyperthreading technology.

If you are a gamer or a single tasker, then disabling the hyperthreading can allow a somewhat higher overclock.

It's a matter of personal preference M1e1w1.

I do a bit of both,

i game, i multi-task. and i run dual boot's.

i play high end and demanding games, FEAR, DOOM3, WOW (max settings)...

I design websites, Photoshop...

i also have windows vista RC1 dual boot.

between overclocking my ATI card, and my CPU. in addition, how i over clock memory? i havent seen any articals on that yet.

as my CPU is Hyper Threaded, im aware if i disable it; i could get faster clock speeds, for single task and gameing. if i leave enabled, that will only limit my max stable clock speed slightly?

with memory,
how can i get windows xp to see all 4 GB i have installed. system info only shows 3 GB. is all 4 GB being used or just 3 GB?

on the subject of overclocking my ATI card, ill go with software recomendations.

You set your memory at a ratio and then raise/lower the memories transfer timings. What make/model is your dram?

Test both with hyperthreading disabled and enabled. I have found the difference to be slight with all the overclocks I have done with hyperthreaded CPU's and Intel chipsets. I can not say for any other than Intel chipsets as I advise all my contacts and family to go with Intel chipsets.

This problem is software based. Windows XP 32bit only sees 3GB of memory. You have edited your boot.ini to reflect the 3GB of memory?
Code:
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional 3GB" /fastdetect /3GB
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
This allows you to choose between 2GB access and 3GB access. You can test the difference between 2GB and 3GB.

If you could remove the dram from the slots and write down the model and number I could give you a better view of your dram settings.

As it is, I can not give much advice regarding speed and timings that is definite.
