I have two reference 6950s with my 955 at 4.0. On CPU intenstive games (ie BF3) it is my understanding that you will see a lot of FPS spikes, especially in Multi, with any amd processor (quads more than hexes). However, for less CPU intensive, but still graphically intensive (Ie Metro 2033), my 955 is only used roughly 50%, while both 6950s are pinned at 99% (with all settings maxed). As mentioned before in this thread, there are a lot of problems with CF that you should avoid if you can (Ie dont buy two right off the bat). For example, in GTA4, i have to disable CF for it to even boot, and it ran better when I just had one card imo (yes i realize its terribly optimized). I know other games have trouble as well, and driver support is often spotty, not to mention your limited upgrade path if you buy two lower end cards. Another vote for the 6950 thumb.gif did i mention 6950s are beast? biggrin.gif

Thread Starter
I did a cinebench a few months back on my overclocked setup and the only processors that were faster than my setup were the stock i7 (extremes) I think..not to mention my processor was HUNDREDS of dollars less at the time......Dont see much of a bottle neck there....

I had major bottlenecks when I had a Phenom II X4 955 at 4.1Ghz and crossfire 6870's so I do not know how you are not experiencing any with CF 6950's. I also had a 2600k system at the same time and when I placed the cards in that system, over 20 FPS gains in most games. My 6870's were running around 60% and cpu 100% in metro 2033 and crysis 2 with the 955.

The 955 did not bottleneck a single 6870 any and only a minor bottleneck, 15%, when I ran a single gtx 580 in the 955 system. The 955 is one of my favorite processors by the way!

To The OP, Crossfire 6870's are stronger then a GTX 580 so they are my choice!

More VRAM + No Crossfire bugs (AMD drivers sucks !) + lower consumption : 6950 2Gb is the winner !
