do you guys reccomend add a 2.1 and 2.0 speaker together on a Creative SoundBlaster Audigy SE? Would the sound be funny what?
do you mean make the 2.1s the sub, front right, front left and the 2.0s the back right, back left? i guess that would work, don't see why not.

Exactly how many speakers do you have and please describe them. What are you using to amplify them?

I have a 2.1 Cambirdge Soundwork combining with a 2.0 Dell Speaker
post #6 of 18
Hmm... Personally, that wouldn't work for my setup. With my 2.1 system, the satellites plug into the back of the sub, not into the soundcard directly. The sub doesn't have room for 2 more speakers to make it 4.1. If i could get some kind of converter to make my satellites connect to my soundcard directly, i suppose it might work. Just make sure yours can do it; sounds like it should work in theory.

ya, same here. so nvm, i don't think it will work, but hey might as well try it.

actually i just read the manual on my Audigy 4. I don't think your plan is gonna work. The 4 speakers are gonna have to plug into the sub, and the sub goes to the soundcard with 2 cables (so like 1 cable per two speakers).
I dont see why it wouldnt work actually. The Audigy SE is a 7.1 if I am not mistaken. So basically plug your two in thru the sub and plug the other two in thru the rear channel. As I also assume the dell's connect together into one cable.

One thing you will notice is that your soundstage will change from front to back and it will be horrible.

What the sub is bascially doing is setting its own crossover for the two speakers, but I also assume the Audigy can understand that they are rears and send bass to the front. Does it have a THX console?

connect the 2.1 to the "front" plug and plug the 2.0 ones into the "back" plug..how hard was that? lol
