SHE IS DONE!!!!!!!!!! PICS BELOW!!!

Hi everyone!

As you can see, i have very few posts but have been lurking for a number of years and finnaly decided to take the plunge into watercooling.

This post will be dedicated to the entire procedure and include steps and pictures to help others like me

To begin, here is my most current build of 2 months ago.

Cpu : i7 2600k 3690x
Gpus: 2x sapphire toxic 6950 (unlocked to 6970)
Mobo: asrock extreme 7 z68 extreme9 x79
Ssd/boot: kingston hyperx 120gb
Hdd/slave: barracuda xt 2tb
Ram: 16gb gskill ripjaw x 1600 cas 8
Psu: thermaltake toughpower silver 1000w
Case: haf 932 advanced

After having this for about a month, i was not happy with my oc temps and wanted to achieve higher clocks with lower temps (was hitting 4.8ghz @ 1.41 v).

I spent quite a while researching and reading and have come down to this parts list. Please, any suggestions or comments are encuraged.

Pump: 1x mcp 35x ( thinking i may need/want 2)
Resivoir: 1x ek multioption v2 150 advanced (wanted inline rrs but open to bay res)
Tubing: primochill primoflex lrt uv blue 1/2 x 3/4
Radiators: 1 blck ice gtx 360 and 1 black ice gtx 240
Cpu block: xspc raystorm
Fans: 10 delta AFC1212D-PWM 120x25mm (3400 rpm 110cfm .287 h2oinch static pressure)
Gpu blocks: 2x ek nickle and acetal 6970 v2 blocks (en badge) with backplates
Fittings: xspc low profile compressions (needed 15 so went with cheap/simple)
Water: distilled water
Biocide: nuke phn ( has a ph level of 7/neutral for ek nickle)
Anti-corrosive: feser base anti corrosive ( also ph neutral or slightly alkaline; using because of ek blocks)
TIMs: timtronics gray ice 4200 (for gpus) indigo xtreme (for cpu)

I will be modifing the haf 932 to insall the rads internally.

Pics comming soon, rest of the shipment coming today!!!

To be cont.....

I would go with the MCP655 it's got better head pressure and LP/H, you'll be fine with just the one.

The EK Supreme HF with the different plate works better than the raystorm.

Those fans are going to be hella loud, also with the Black Ice GTX you can use low RPM fans and still get the epic cooling. If you're going to be spending this much on a loop i'd really have to go with the gentle Typhoon AP-15's or something.

If you don't have a fan controller (which you will need) go and have a look at the sunbeams. They are pretty much the best on the market. Aim for something with around 30w per channel

I'd stay away from EK altogether. Go for MIPS/HEatkiller or Aquacomputer.

Also, not sure you should be mixing distilled with ptnuke with feser biocide. Doesn't sound like things will end too well with that.

For the pump, why not go with a MCP655? You would only need one of them for your loop instead of two MCP355s.

This happens is when you use UV reactive liquid. That's the main reason UV reactive fluid sucks.

But yeah, diustilled water, a few drops of PT Nuke and you're fine, throw in a kill coil if you really want.

Why are you using all of those expensive chemicals?
RV Antifreeze
Cheap, non-toxic, and I've never had any issues come from using it.
3 years and running strong.

I thought about the 655, but the 35x has more head pressure (14ft vs 10 ft) and with the multi gpus, that seemed the better route.

Trust me, i wanted gental typhoons, but everywhere i looked was sold out except for the 5000 rpm ones and i wad afraid to low a voltage would make them sputter. I got the deltas for $18 a piece (norml $25) and they are pwm so i plan on connecting them together and controling them through the cpu pwm socket. I bout a splitter thay allows me to power them through the psu. Bassically, i will have the 360 before the cpu and the 240 before the gpus. I have 2 pwn hookups on the mobo and will set the fan profiles in speed fan with the corrosponding fans/rads and the cpu/gpus.

I must of spent a week on fans alone lol the deltas have more static pressure and cfms at lower rpms compared to the typhoons as well.

Im not sure why there is so much hate towards EK? 6 out of 7 of my waterblocks are EK are are preforming quite amazingly.

but your right, go with a MCP655 pump. i have two of them and the pressure even though 7 blocks and 4 radiators is crazy strong.

The feser base anti corrosive is just that, an anti corrosive. No biocide in it whatsoever. It is mainly because of the combo of nickle and copper blocks in the loop. Considering it is <2% of my solution (if done properly) i dont think i could get the gunk up, also it has no dyes either.

The nuke phn is NOT pt nuke. Pt nuke is a copper sulfate while nuke phn is a chlorene derivitive. The main difference being its non reactivness to metals and being ph 7. This alows me to use the anti corrosive with is ph 7 as well and not worry about acidity ( no beuno). I actually have a silver coil ready to use, but i didnt want to add any more metal to the mix. Interms of corrosiveness, nickle and silver are-.2 and -.3 respectively away from copprr and brass, which well exceeds the -.15 for a non corrosive mixture of metals)

I know, i am coming off quite pretencious but with me being stupid and wanting the ek blocks, but i feel it is worth it for the trouble.

Thanks again guys!

Personally i dont know why everyone still rips on EK like they are Apple or something. Ive seen the huge fire thread about them not accepting responsibility for a build flaw on a block, but at some point you have to move past that. Their products are good, no doubt. There is no reason to feel bad about buying EK blocks.

Apple is the very reason you even have a PC. Dunno why anyone would hate the most innovative company in the history of computing.

EK on the other hand sold a ton of blocks, decided to use sub-par processes in machining, plating, and sub-par materials. That's why. It wasn't just one block, it was many. And Eddie refused to believe it was his fault, and blamed people using distilled, then ptnuke, then blamed kill coils, on and on. it was always the end user, not his crap product. He has shown he can't be trusted. His greed got the better of him. Instead of making smaller profits off of better parts, he made larger profits off of crap parts.

and what you said describes about every company (especially Apple). i have installed a lot of EK blocks on many different chipsets and have personally never had a issue. I see where this is a issue, and a rather sensitive one at that (apparently), but the fact is they still make some of the higher quality blocks on the market. The only other cpu block maker i would trust other than EK is Danger Den anyways, and Bitspower for anything else.

And off topic, i would not consider apple innovative. the way they patent troll and sue the competition is trashy and idiotic. but that is for another thread.

So with that said, Jomama, i look forward to your project. Ill be subbing to this and hope to see something awesome come out of here!
