I believe there should be some thermal tape if I'm not mistaken, have a look here.

is this how all SB chips look? I cleaned it with alcohol and a q-tip, but the top is all uneven and the chip itself is all mis-shaped. I don't get it. The flash really amplifies it, but still.

they put the same stuff on laptop processors. pretty sure that's just a cover you can remove. it's kind of like aluminum foil in feel. might be wrong tho. someone else will probably chime in.

btw.... what mobo is this? brand? model?

here's the board fully covered. Guess I gotta take the Chipset block back off and take a look.

One thing I don't really like is how far I have the slide the dominators over, because if I center them, they cover the holes for the Chipset / mosfet. I don't think it will make a difference in cooling though.

Also check this article from EK to make sure you have a red lines on your screw, otherwise use the 2.5mm POM standoffs thumb.gif

hope this helps you a little thumb.gif

Take that silver thermal tape off
501

then clean the sb chip with some 91% isopropyl alcohol and q-tip so it looks like this
