You wont regret it!!!! I went from 1090T to a i5 2500k and the difference is amazing. Never buying AMD again and i used to always like them but this chip has changed my mind completely

GO FOR IT! Just make sure you get a GEN3 board and your good to go. Even if Ivy Bridge comes out in a month or so, you wont need to upgrade for ages so you can pay less for it when prices settle down a bit without having to buy a new motherboard!

This, I got a good board and an i5 and i'll just throw in the 3770K when it comes out and maybe a new card and call it a day.

How can you tell if the board is a Gen 3? so the 3770k is going to be the same socket as the 2600k? 1155?

It will have GEN3 somewhere in the product description, normally incorporated in the model number too

I was gonna say wait for 2550K in a few days, they might be cherry picked biggrin.gif
post #29 of 34
I doubt they are any more cherry picked than the current 2600ks.
But to answer the op, wait for ivy bridge, and save for the 3770k.

I think that the 2500k will meet your needs for several years and there really is no reason to wait. If everyone always waited to upgrade to buy the latest and greatest item, then nobody would ever buy anything!!
