Also as I said it's idling at 60C with my room ambient being quite cool.. probably 18C ? I don't know why it's so hot but I doubt I'll be seeing 1100-1200 when it's idling stock at 60C. Fan is on auto and is at 27% when idling.

If you're idling at 60C you have a limited number of things going wrong.

A.) Your PC Case is the inside of an oven

B.) You have a bad mount of the GPU Cooler - I always reapply my own TIM on GPU's and temps always drop a few C even if the mount was done correctly.

If neither of those are the case, then RMA the card because you have something seriously wrong. No way you should idle at 60.

I recommend setting a custom profile in it to about 50% at 70 degrees, and 100% at about 95. Best performance and temps.
P.S. It won't actually reach 95 degrees, but the steeper climb helps keep everything under control just that much better.

I run a much more aggressive fan curve. My fan goes to 100% at 70c.

At 100% they shake my floor, and are unbearably loud (past 65% is my limit without headphones. My config gets the job done, with a minor overclock, I don't really want to play with the voltages just yet, maybe I'll pick up some water blocks and upgrade my loop when they can't handle what i'm throwing at them.

Are these things as loud as the 6970 reference cards? My Sapphire 6970 is unbearably loud above 40% without headphones. If these are the same I think I'll pass.

They're not, but if you do a heavy overclock you will have to use manual fan which can be loud. At stock settings auto fan is never even audible

Yea there is something 100% wrong. My 6850 crossfire setup doesnt exceed 66C @ stock and 72C@ 940/1150 with 25C ambient temps.
