Anyway, this really means little to most as it is a synthetic. Gaming could go even better or worse, depending on the game.

It's comparable in that test.....My max overclock is 1050/2100/2200(Not 100% stable, but able to run 3dMark11) . I'm on air btw....

Hey, I'm not saying a 580 is equal to the 7970...AMD has THE fastest single card right now, hands down.
I really don't remember the 580 getting this kind of hate and ongoing argument with it's price per performance. Everyone kind of just accepted it. Bickering for no reason, let's move on to the next topic. The 7970 is the fastest single GPU to date, and it's 500+$. Moving on.

Not everyone cares about price mate, why cant u understand that?

Stick to your $300 setup and leave it at that.

What about when 2x 6870's bashed a 580?
Everyone knew this, bit still wanted the 580.
If tour on a budget thats great, i dnt wanna know about it.

Its a fair argument. I think the concensus is that 7970 has a ton of untapped potential with overclocking and a fermi type refresh later, and that it is the fastest GPU. Top end parts have definitely gone through the roof price wise though, nothing we can do about that.

Personally I don't mind the cost. Others will have to settle for lesser parts , the good thing is the 1.5gb 7950 will be around 400$, which is much more reasonable.

Wut? The overclocked 7970 gets a 9076 gpu score.

It's actually 9164 in graphics score at 1125/1575. You might be mistaken with physics score.

Yeah, I am mistaken. Still, it got nearly 10k on a single card over @ legit reviews @ 1165 GPU clock - beating a GTX 590 almost
