As Hobie said, the Koolance is a great cheap pot. It's what I generally recommend for people on a strict budget. However, there is a pretty notable difference between that and a higher end pot. When we were benching with Noguru's at August Ice, it hit its lowest temperatures around -178C whereas a pot with more mass and good surface area will take you down closer to -190 (or below).

Yep, could not get the Koolance below -179 but it is a cheap alternative. Look for used pots, they pop up every so often or just get the Marksman or Kingpins if you can afford it.

Oh don't worry, I already read it tongue.gif I think I'm either A. going to try and find something used, or B. buy a marksman. Really depends on what's available used, and the price of the marksman. Much more than $400 for the marksman pot, and I might just look for a used koolance v2 or something.

For Somebody that only uses Dice for Subzero, The Koolance V2 is superb. Will hold at -78C as long as you keep it full! thumb.gif

the issue with a lot of the pots on the market including the Kingpin pots is the base has a series of holes in them. in order for them to be effective you have to crush the dice and get the dice/acetone mix into those holes, as it evaporates you have to keep pushing dice into the holes, i use a wooden skewer to do this. The Koolance base doesn't have holes inside the base, which makes it good with dice and decent for ln2.

Kingpin does at times say he has a dice base for the Gemini 2.0, but the only dice base that i have even seen for the Gemini is sitting in my bench room here in Michigan.... thumb.gif

Before Vince moved to Taiwan i went to his shop and bought my Gemini kit and 2nd mounting kit.... then got the dice base as a gift to test.
if your gonna use dice and move to ln2 later, find a decent used pot like a used Duniek or the Koolance, then afterwards find or buy a ln2 only pot.
