3 pin power splitter and speed control software?

Ok so my motherboard has 3 3 pin fan headers however I have 4 fans which I wish to power and use speedfan to control the speeds. I was thinking of this and was wondering do you guys think I could still control the speeds of my fans even when they are connected to that? I am guessing if it was possible I would for obvious reasons not be able to set different speeds for both fans connected.

Yes, and yes.

However, you want to make sure that the total power draw of the 2 fans combined does not overload the fan header as it might kill the whole motherboard. We don't want that.

You could just connect the yellow wire (it's the yellow for fan control, right?) and use an external power source (not from the motherboard). Thus ensuring that it's speed controlled and it's not going to fry your fan header and/or your whole motherboard.

Thank you both very much for the informative comments. Both fan headers will be running 120mm fractal design + sickflow

Fractal = Power: 0.72 W +/- 15%
Slickflow = Input (Watt) 4.2W

I think those are the stats I needed to find however I am unable to find the limitations of the fan header on the motherboard website. Any suggestions on where to find it? I am going to download and give the manual a quick read.

EDIT: HAZA looking at this picture it would suggest 12v?

However on second look at the sickflow it alone seems to take 12v (Voltage 12VDC) So I am guessing having one of these and a fractal on one header is a bad idea. :'(

The 12V+ is just the supply of power. The current (amperage, or amps) is what we're looking for. We cannot go over the maximum allowed.

In order to find out how many watts your fan (or any electronic is using) just plug the numbers into this formula: V * A = W

We know the power will be 12V+. And we know the Wattage, which should be 4.92W, give or take. What is the total amps your fan header can push out?

I read through the manual and didn't find anything. Google isn't turning anything up, either.

Also, the total amp draw of both fans is 0.41A, give or take.

Fantastic answer I don't wish to risk destroying my motherboard so I was looking for solutions and found this from what I can see it's powered from the psu but I can still control it with software right? Once again thanks for the swift answers.

your probably better of with a fan controller that fits into a 3.5" or 5.25" bay if you have one spare or mod you case and fit it somewhere. have a look at some of these

Yeah I was looking at getting an NZXT sentry but I feel software based manipulation better fits my needs over a physical device in my computer. However, If the software route doesn't go well I will certainly be looking into getting a physical fan controller.
