Anything around the 5.10/5.11/5.12/5.13/6.1 range I find work best for X800/X850 series cards.

Lately it has been doing that a lot, even if im not gaming..i leave my computer on and i turn on my monitor it says 'no signal'
I have a Thermaltake 430W is it enough??

Motherboard: ASUS A8V-E SE
CPU: AMD 64bit 3500+
1GB RAM
Thats typical of the x800 cards. Especially the lower ones like the GTO and PRO will do that.

I had an ABIT RX800 vGuru edition card (supposedly AWESOME for overclocking) that would do the same thing at 406 mhz clock (6 mhhz over stock) The new X800XT-AIW i have seems to handle anything, but back to your situation.

The best solution I found for the problem was using the ATI relese drivers. The latest catalyst 6.9 and drivers should run fine with no reason to downgrade.

Be sure to take a look at your gpu clock/ memory clock. Check timings and reset to the normal as needed. ATI Tray tools is a good tool to use.

Better use "ATi Tool" instead of "tray tools" to check your card.

Remove any OC's and re-install your catalyst software (Use 6.9 it has the most bugfixes and never gave me problems, indeed no need to downgrade). Do this following this guide:
http://www.tweaktown.com/guides/569/...ide/index.html

That way you are sure it arent old driver leftovers screwing stuff up.

In the ATI tools or tray tools software there are overclocking settings. Just make sue that they are set to default (which i think is 400 or 425 mhz for the gpu and 490 or 500 for the ram)

ah ok they are default. i only installed the Display Drivers and the WDM drivers...the Catalyst Control center isnt really needed....is it? And i use ATiTool since someone said its better. Is that ok? Or should i use ATi Tray Tool/Catalyst Contorl Center?

Yeah thats fine, The CCC is mostly a gimic. all those settings can be adjusted with the atitools etc. You might want to see if it is all connected right in your case still? But the driver should solve your problem. the 6.9 drivers are good IMO
