[TESV Acceleration Layer/Skyboost] Increase Skyrim performance by up to 40% ! - Page 5

I got about a 15 fps increase, from standing at the entrance to whiterun.

I hope for this game to run at a solid 120fps soon enough though - I am still sitting around 70 in whiterun frown.gif but when I am in the wilderness, I am at like 60% cpu usage and gpu usage and am getting a solid framerate.

I hate how the mod was packaged up and how you had to get SKSE separately and that as well was packaged up annoyingly. I guess I'm a perfectionist. Here's SKSE packaged up alongside TESV Acceleration Layer:

https://rapidshare.com/files/3717033662/SKSE_1.4.2___TESV_Acceleration_Layer_1.3.10.zip

I've uploaded the ZIP file (280 kB) to my RapidShare. Feel free to download it from there. Just extract the contents to your main Skyrim folder, run Steam and then Skyrim using skse_loader.exe.

I run at 30-50 fps. 70 is craziness. Be happy.

Just tested this and it works for me too! smile.gif I'm using alot of texture mods and stuff, was down to 37FPS when looking at that tree standing up at Dragonsreach, now it was 55FPS + biggrin.gif

+ REP for OP! thumb.gif

Really beats me why Bethesda did not optimize this game for PC, and why they left out the 4GB awarness from the start... Game was totally unstable, even in Vanilla condition without the 4GB awareness. I know they've incorporated it in the latest patch, but it should have been there from the start.

And now a modder easily did this performance fix... I do not understand why Bethesda are leaving out obvious things..

I also think it would've taken them very, very little time and effort to give PC-users a little less consolified menus in-game, and also given the PC-gamers higher-res textures from the start.

The answer to that is as simple as: They don't care.
As long as the game sells great, it's all good. Besides, who cares about us pirates!? tongue.gif

I bought Skyrim, like many others, because I knew I was going to play it alot, but if they threat PC gamers as garbidge then they will just get more pirates..

It's worse than that. They didn't even have to manually optimize anything. A few compiler options and a few extra seconds of compile time would have made the performance boost much higher than this "proof of concept" fix. It almost seems deliberate.

Well you can also download the Nvidia driver if you have a green card,. This will give you another 25%, so you should be trucking along pretty good.

Optimizations for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Increases performance by up to 25% in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim vs. 290.36 drivers

You can get them from this link.
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

Or right click the nvidia icon in the tray. And select update preferences and choose the box "Include beta drivers" and hit apply. And it should take you right to the download page you need with the correct os extension x32 or x64. If not just right click the tray icon and select "check for update". Thanks

Why would they do it deliberately?

Yeah, I have the latest beta... Did not help performance much when outside in cities.. Nvidia says it helps mostly inside in some places..

I'm not saying they did it deliberately. I'm just saying the way they've compiled the code lacks many of the optimizations that are automatically done by modern compilers. One example being padding instructions to the cache boundary.
