Sennheiser - Page 27

True but with closed headphones the sound is more direct, and less of a "roomy" feel, so it's more of taste. Open headphones don't distort or ruin the experience, but more of an enhancement from my perception over closed headphones (tried them before also, an older set from 20 years ago, awesome pair still).

HOLY COW. y didn't u tell me that. So what the hell is the point of them. Why have such huge headphones if this will happen. So if i go on the city bus EVERYONE will hear me. and if i go on my school bus with loud music i will hear the radio. and they will hear me.

Sorry had to use "holy cow" cause it wouldn't let me use the word i wanted to use the SH word

so i should use my crapy pannasonics outside my house. And use the 595's for gaming and what do i do with the gaming cans i also got.

OK ok here is what i have

these are closed cups i use them currently for:home/car/gaming

Those are the Senn 595's. They are in the mail

Those are the steelsound one's they are in the mail also. I plan to use them for gaming.

Those are my sennheiser px200's that i use for outside listning where i can't take my panasonic's

plz prioritize what i have and what i should do.

We spoke about it a week ago in this thread:

Maybe soloz2 will better explain it.

It's all preference. Most higher end headphones are open cans such as Sennheiser HD650, AKG K701, etc. If you want some isolation, you should cancel your order then and get some closed headphones (I'll be glad to recommend some).

Well, I think I'm gonna wait until you get your new headphones before recommending anything because it might make you regret your purchase before you even try them. I'll I have to say is that HD595 are probably one of the best open headphones you can use for gaming purposes. The sound they produce is very detailed and accurate, which is good for gaming but they don't have a boomy type of bass. Comfort is a big plus for HD595 headphones which you would want for long gaming sessions.

Just see how you like them first and then I (or someone else) can make a better recommendation based on what you feel is lacking with the HD595.

yes good point. Hey i also had another question. I have a x-fi and it has mic in and headphone in. So i can plug in headphones and a mic. Also my speakers on the center channel there is an area where i plug in my headphones if i'm lazy to reach back. Here is my question will there be any quality loss if i plug into the headphone jack on the x-fi vs. the front of the speakers?

Wow you've got quite a few headphones lol, personally I'd return the HDs you have and sell all the other 'phones you have and buy yourself the HD280Pro, they're sealed and thus perfect for every use you have for them, I've got a pair and they're amazing (sitting on my desk right now actually).

metalica you don't need to spend $35 on a pair of headphones to use for 'gaming' when you're already getting some HD595's. The 595's will be better for gaming then the steelsound's could ever hope to be in their wildest dreams! Just cancel that order and get a $10 Zalman clip on mic and clip it on the cable from the 595's. That's what I use and it's better then any so-called gaming headset that I've heard.

and you can wear the 595's outside... I wouldn't wear them on a plane/train/subway or anything like that though because they do not isolate. but if you're just going for a walk or something like that the 595's are fine... although the cord is pretty long!
I am currently on vacation and I did bring my Grado SR-80's and they offer less isolation then my 595's. I tried them on the plane and they were better then I thought they would be... had to turn them up pretty loud though. I think my wife has pretty much laid claim to them though... so I may have lost that pair of headphones. But I do use my Grados when walking around town/campus.
If you want a pair of portable headphones that offer isolation then get some Senn PX200/PMX200 or some AKG k81dj

I've been listening to my new 555s at 2:30 am to avoid noise from family members and such... and wow... these things are amazing. BF2 sounds better than it ever has, and I'm hearing things in my music I've never heard before. (Did you know Chop Suey by System of a Down has a piano bit in the last 45 seconds? It's quiet, and I never knew it was there before these headphones). They've got great bass for headphones, and the mids are great. They're a tiny bit lacking on the high end, but nothing I can't live with.
They're pretty comfortable, though a little tight on my head, but I'm sure that will wear off after a little bit. I prefer closed cans usually, but it's nice to have the sound not seem like it's coming from inside my head.
Overall, I'm extremely impressed with the HD555s, and I got a great deal on them ($93 shipped from Amazon.com), I'd strongly recommend them.

guys i have great news i just got home from vacation about an hour ago and i unpacked both the headphones. I have to say soloz you are wrong that the 595's are way better than the steelsound ones. The hd's are a bit more comfly but for gaming the steel offer a richer sound. They offer a bit more treble and more detail just a bit more. Plus the hd's when i listen to them on my ZVM they have ALOT of treble a bit to much if you ask me but they are very comfy now i have to figure out how to set up that stand.
