I have some HD595s and they are the best headphoens I have ever had. Comfortable too. I cant recommend them enough.

Well, based on yours (and other's) testimony and some research on my behalf I've ordered some of the Sennheiser 595s. I hope they are as good as everybody says, because I'm not in the habit of spending £100 (the equivalent of $189 USD) on headphones lol .

I am interested in getting the most from these headphones though, so I am interested in a headphone amp, to maximise the performance. Can you link to the amp you use, or a half decent one you can recommend. Also, I have no idea what a "Grado adapter" is , so I would appreciate it if you could also provide me with a link to one you would consider to be good.

I'll check Google out for an amp and adapter, but I don't really know what to buy,
so I'll hold off on purchasing any of that stuff until I hear back from you .

Thanks a lot for your advice, it has been very instructive and much appreciated!!

I think you'll be pleased with your new cans

here's the Grado adapter I was talking about:
http://gradolabs.com/frameset_main.htm

and the LDM+ amp that I use
http://www.little-tube.com/forum/for...sp?TID=22&PN=1

And my PIMETA

Mine is pretty much maxed out and in a desktop format as you can clearly see from the pictures. It does sound better then the LDM+, and it can be made into a portable amp (smaller case and 9v battery) but as configured it would get poor battery life (stacked buffers have a way of doing that...)
more information here
http://tangentsoft.net/audio/pimeta/
The default config of the PIMETA is a portable amp and it can be made for about $100 depending on configuration. Mine with enclosure was almost double

The only problem I have is finding this stuff in the UK . I guess there just isn't much of a market for it here...

The best I can find amp-wise so far is this, or this... I can't find a "Grado adapter" anywhere online, unless they're called something else in the UK..? I don't want to spend too much more on stuff for these headphones, but I guess any amp is better than no amp and most adapters will be good enough to start with..?

Which amp do you think is the better from the two I linked to, or do you know of any UK retailers who sell headphone amps that you could recommend?

Sorry if I'm asking stupid questions, but these headphones will be the first set of decent one's I've bought and I'm not too sure how to get the best out of them without spending a fortune. LOL, I'm a headphone noob .

Thanks again for you help .

REPs forthcoming .

EDIT: OK, scratch that about the Grado Adaptor, I think I've found one!! Will this be OK?

Yeah i'm buying headphones this week also. The best headphones i had where the shure e2c WORST HEADPHONES EVER. I read that they where the best and everyone likes them so i go to best buy and hey look they have them woop te do. So i buy them. I go home and try to put them on. I tried for about 1 hour to put on these earphones. they are the most UNCOMMFORTABLE ever. I have to almost rip my ear off to put them on.
I am a very picky person for when it comes for earphones. so i went and got my self
http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/...056672174_.jpg

and don't get me wrong they are really good and very comfortable. But they are huge and i can't take them outside the house without looking like a fool.

So this week i'm buying the Sen pxc200's. they are like $50 of zipzoomfly.com
Or should i get the pxc250 i have the money it's just that i don't know if it's worth it. Are there any other sugestions in headphones up to $100 and in the style of the pxc's?????

you can get the LDM+ in europe. try to find it off ebay, if you can't find it I'll sell you mine because they are farily easy to come by in the US... likewise if you want an amp I can get it and send it to you or build you one for the cost of parts and shipping.

That is the Grado adapter I was talking about. Sadly, that's like $19USD for it, and you can get it here shipped for that price, but oh well.

I think you are referring to the Senn PMX200's which are a street style version of the closed PX200's
the Senn PXC line are noise cancelling portable cans and they cost around $100 or so.
I have a pair of Senn PMX200's in my for sale thread in like new condition box included for $28
Overall I like the sound of the px (or pmx) 100's as they are open, but they offer less isolation. Either would be a great choice for a good portable headphone.

my portable headphones of choice:
Koss ksc75: clipon
Senn PX100: open
AKG k81dj: closed

OK, I bought that Grado adapter. Now just need an amp. I still can't find an LDM+ anywhere, not even on eBay... What does LDM stand for, as I may have more luck using a different search term..?

I found this on eBay, do you think this will be any good for the price, or is it really worth spending another £100 for an amp..?

Thanks for your help, it's appreciated!

LDM+ stands for little dot micro+ (it's the new + version)

I've never heard of that amp so I don't know anything about it.

the LDM+ has good syngery w/ the hd595's and for the price can't be beat the way they match together. anything else would probably need to be built or have a large price increase to get a better commerical amp

Man, it's a nightmare trying to find a suitable amp that doesn't cost more than the headphones! There's no way I'm going to spend £200+ for a headphone amp, I'm not exactly an audiophile... I might consider spending, up to £40, £55 including tax and shipping, but I just can't justify spending twice as much as the headphones cost on an amp to power them . Apparently these headphones don't need an amp to sound good anyway, although they do greatly benefit from one it would seem...

The LDM+ just isn't available online in the UK apparently... I've spent the last half hour laboriously hunting them down, but they don't seem to be for sale... I could get them from China on eBay, but I think I'd rather buy from a UK seller .

What are the characteristics/specifications for the LDM+ or another a half decent amp for these headphones? Perhaps I can find something with the spec (or similar) to the LDM+ amp you suggested in some other brand/model..?

Thanks!
