Isn't the 3D Vision an Nvidia feature? how it can work on an AMD card? I have a monitor that support 3D Vision too but not HD3D (or whats AMD call it)
Thats all I worry about now ( what prevent me from getting and AMD card) , If It can do 3D Vision that will be awesome smile.gif otherwise I have to wait for the next big thing from Nvidia ...which I will most likely going to do.

That's what I was wondering being a new GPU if it now enabled it. It's also the reason I left AMD to Nvidia for 3D Vision hands down better. Kids want to watch 3D blu-ray movies and I dont mind playing 3D games. It's been a lot of fun. smile.gif

If AMD were better at it in a hardware level is what I was checking on. I don't see that's the case with any of the reviews. frown.gif

I've been trying to figure out how good AMD's HD3D is but there doesn't seem to be a lot of info. SInce my Samsung 120Hz monitor doesn't support 3D Vision I have been considering going with 7970's for HD3D. Sure wish somebody here could give me the scoop on AMD's 3D solution....

Great I just spent $870 on GTX580 SLI 3GB. And was thinking of putting it on water for another $200

Do i stick or should i sell and CF 7970?

With 580 SLI 3gb 2560x1600 Everything I have thrown at it has been defeated Except for Metro 2033 MSAA 4X, DX11, Very High Quality, AF16X chokes at 35FPS constant. Wanted to hit 50+ FPS

Review against a 1.5gb gtx 580? Wonder how behind 3gb SLI 580 is behind 7970CF

I was going to overclock once both cards underwater but Perhaps OC will still lose to 7970.

That Galaxy was a 1.5GB VRAM card. Totally unfair for them to compare it to the 3GB version 7970.

HardOCP has biased language favoring AMD in all their reviews. Even when the GTX 580 came out and stomped, they worded it that you can find better options in AMD. I've yet to read one article that made Nvidia the winner in their comparisons.

Don't tell me that in all this time Nvidia hasn't made one better product? A lot of review site do it to be fair. It called advertising dollars. No review site is immune to it. I take it with a grain of salt.

If the review included the 3GB vs 3GB cards it would have been different. The 7970 would have still been in front but it would not have had the same margin of difference.

Apples to apples my arse. I don't know many gamers that play games with settings turned down if there's eye candy options.

Wonder if they'll revise their stance should the pricing for a 580 hits $380 as expected when the 7970 is released? Price / performance it will be hard to pass up.

The 7970 is a great card and if I could get 3D games and or 3D movies on my current set up I might go back to AMD. Not taking the definite improvement away from the new card but its expected to beat current gen just like the 500 and 6000 series cards did from this predecessors. The real composition is yet to come when Nvidia finally gets their act together and releases there answer. I'm sure it will be 'apples to apples' for real then. wink.gif

I was planning on going sli on my gtx570 until I saw the benchmarks on a single 7970. The 7970 has AMAZING performance and at the msrp of $540 or so its price/performance is actually cheaper per fps you will get with most 580's, especially 3GB models. Heck saw some benchmarks where the 7970 even beat a 6990. The thing is if amd releases enough to not cause the price from being marked up and shortages. Even if nvidia's kepler is better, we dont have an nvidia confirmed date either. Could be 6months away.

About water cooling Im sure evga will release those soon, I forgot what I read but AMD released the cards in a manor to let the manufacturers prepair custom boards earlier than normal. The author speculated that it would be great if we had custom cards on launch but forgot where I read this. Regardless it was speculation but you may not need to wait long for evga water cooled 7970's
Evga doesn't manu AMD cards.

After giving it a lot of thought... I decided to return the two evga gtx 580 classified hydro coppers for refund and to wait for 7970 user-generated benchmarks of single-card and cfire. If user-generated 7970 benchmarks are indeed better than 580's by more than 10% on average for a single card and they indeed scale in cfire as well as hardwareheaven's review says they do.. then I'll switch to AMD.
If they aren't much 10% faster on avg. than 580's which might be the case, then I will consider getting a second 580 1.5gb for a reduced price and then I'll wait for nvidia to announce their next gen cards along with a refresh from amd which might happen too imho.

This shouldn't be a question, the 7970's are by FAR the BEST choice.

will anyone make the 7970s in blue or all black? Ive got a $3,000 build going with a black, blue, white, and chrome theme and I don't want red cards LOL
post #59 of 92
PS.... 7970s over 580s IMHO. lower temps and power draw is actually important to me since I want to sli/xfire my choices using a 850 watt PSU.

a good branded 850w is plenty for 580 sli lol
