I No Longer Need A New Power Supply Now! - Page 2

What you describe sounds like unstable overclocks... run Furmark and Prime individually and let us know if it shuts down under Furmark, Prime or both...
Original GX750 is indeed not very good at all. It's just not built well, and it tends to climb out of spec at somewhere around 50% of full load, which is pretty sad. I agree about testing CPU and GPU stability, if you want to find the problem. If you're willing to spend money, a PSU upgrade is not a bad idea though.

If you'll be sticking to single GPU setups in the future, I'd order one of the Rosewill Capstone 450W from the egg, at $65 shipped. It's internally one of those Golden Greens mentioned earlier.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182066

The 650W model is $90 if you really see multiple GPUs in your future. Quality is significantly higher than the Corsair GS, which is already quite decent.

Guys just wondering for everyone that recommends corsair psu's how come most people are looking towards the TX series? All I know about the different series' is that the HX ones are modular. Are they all made differently or what?

And sorry I didn't mean to ninja this thread if I did, just became really curious.

I ran both tests for several minutes and nothing happened. No errors, no restarts.

Every Corsair series is different. Moreover, old TX is different than newer TX-C, which is different from TX-M, which is different from TX V2. AX1200 is different than the other AX, HX models come from different places, etc. Actually, the GS units are very close to the TX-C.

In terms of performance and features, AX > HX > TX > GS > CX, generally. An old HX unit is worse than modern TX units, for example. Arguably some HX units have better performance than some AX units. AX, HX, and TX-M are fully modular, mostly modular, and partially modular, while the rest are non-modular.

CX V2 are decent budget units. Everything else is pretty good to really great. TX series just has a lot of mindshare I guess, and a lot of models, explaining why people are often "looking towards" them.

Both have good internal quality. TX is bronze rated, HX is generally silver rated (750 and 850 actually gold rated from 80Plus) except HX 650 which is bronze. HX is also modular. Of course there is now TX M which is modular and made by CWT. CWT also makes HX and CX (also old TX) and Seasonic makes TX v2 and AX (apart from AX1200 which is flextronics).

People get TX over HX because its cheaper thats all

Seasonic X660 should handle CF 7970s brilliantly. That's as future proof as you're gonna get, power draw is decreasing every year so it's rather ironic to call a power supply future proof based on it's wattage.

that's.. irritating.
Bump the GPU voltage slightly(to 1.05v or so) and try to replicate the conditions in which the system restarts or shuts down, come back with the results smile.gif
