Quite annoyed with MSI and my 560 Ti

I built this rig in April with a single Galaxy 560 Ti. Then about 2 months ago I got a TFII OC 560 Ti and a Hawk. I ran the Galaxy card and the TFII card together for about a month before the TFII card died. The computer wouldn't recognize it. I tried all the combinations of cards and it just wouldn't show up, so I RMA'd it. Got it back about 2 weeks later, and it worked for about 2 weeks. Then one day the computer just shuts down in the middle of a game, and I can't turn it back on. Pressing the power button would make the light flash for a split second, and then nothing. So I removed the TFII card and ran just the Galaxy card and it powered on. Put the TFII card in the second slot and it wouldn't run. Ran the Hawk, worked fine. Hawk and TFII card, wouldn't power on... So, AGAIN I RMA'd the card. This time I got a different card back, as it was "swapped" as per the RMA. It was of a slightly different design as it had the stiffening bracket and vrm passive cooler. So I put the TFII card in the bottom slot with my Galaxy card in the top like normal, power on the computer and all is well. Go to run a benchmark, and about 10 seconds into it, the display driver crashed. So, I restart, try again, and it crashes in the same place. So, I downclock the TFII card down to reference speeds, and run the tetst again. It gets a little further, and then crashes. So, I up the voltage, same thing. Restart, and this time the computer is just idling right after a restart, and the display driver crashes again. Try a bunch of stuff to no avail, and everything points to the TFII card yet again. This time MSI pays the shipping back since this will be my fourth card. So, now it's today the 22nd, and I get my FOURTH card in the mail. Install it, run a 3dmark 11, and it gets through test 1, 2, 3, and then on the 4th test, about 2 seconds in the screen goes blank, and the computer restarts itself. After the restart the TFII card is gone from my nvidia control panel. So I restart again and it shows back up. Re-run the benchmark, and it freezes, goes dark and restarts at the exact same place. Again, it's gone from my control panel. Restart, and it's back. So I downclock it and up the voltage a bit. Try playing BF3 and about 5 minutes in, the sound freezes and the computer restarts. Does this two more times. (Also note, temps never went above 70 during benchmarking, and much lower for bf3. And 70C was my galaxy card. the TFII was never above 60!). So, I take the TFII card out and replace it with my Hawk card, and guess what... It goes through all benchmarks perfectly, and BF3 did crash for the whole time i was playing it. Conclusion? The TFII card is STILL bad. What now?!

I apologize for the wall of text ahead of time.

TL;DR version:

If I RMA this card again, it will be the 4th time. What is going on with this TFII card?

I don't think it's a good idea to test your stability using bf3. bf3 is having so much problem, so you should do your stability test using other games or 3dmark 11, OCCT.

I too had to go through MSI rma recently and I do think that they need to improve their RMA service. I sent my card for the 3rd time recently and still waiting for a replacement.

My bro built his system 2 months ago with sli of gtx 560ti TWII, one of the fans was faulty causing one of the cards to hit 100 deg in 10s of stressing, so had it RMA'd, 3 weeks later got the replacement which was the GTX 560 TWII, NOT the Ti version, so RMA'd it to get the Ti version, got it back and it was making some fkin weird as noise, but kept using it to see if it stopped and so far it has..... imo I have lost faith with MSI due to this experience....

Check the PSU if possible I guess, could have had an issue or something, or see if you can test the 2 cards on a different system.
Hopefully u get ure problem solved!

Are you overclocking it right out of the box and not checking it first alone?

What overclock are you running it at, as well as the voltage.

There has to be some issue here. I also have a 560 ti TFII and have no issue out of is. So I would like to know what you are doing to avoid this issue with my own.

Did you try to swap the PCIe slots for TFII OC 560 Ti and Hawk?

Is the OS "legit"?

Are you trying to straining the other two cards when they are together the same way you are straining the TFII?

I ran all of the cards at stock clocks. I haven't over-clocked the TFII cards. With my Galaxy card and Hawk card, I am running 950/1900/2100 at the stock Hawk voltage, with my Galaxy card at 1.050 voltage.

The TFII card had a stock voltage of 1.012, with 880/something/something. I didn't start with an overclock. After it crashing a couple of times I tried lowering the clocks and increasing the voltage to 1.062 max.

I will be checking the TFII card alone tomorrow.

Also, for reference, I have recently run a GTX 570 for a day and a 6970 for a day, both with no problems. Both MSI cards.

I haven't changed slots with this most recent one yet. I need to set aside some time to do that tomorrow. Once I do more testing with some proof, I intend to write a nice e-mail about this card.

I did try all combos of single/dual cards and different slots with the previous TFII cards. The most changing spots did was (in SLI with the TFII card in the second slot) make the benchmark run further before it crashed.

Edit: OS is legit.

You mean am I running the same tests no matter which combo of cards I try? Yes. I have run 3dmark 11, vantage and BF3 with all combos. It's only with the TFII card in there that I have any problems.

Yes, I agree that BF3 is a very crash-y game. It just happens to be something that i have that I know will stress the system, and I've never gotten crashes like that in BF3. And not that quickly and consistently.

And thank you for the info regarding your third RMA.
