Will the Aquaero 5 Pro and single Poweradjust 2 support the pump, temp sensors, and fans in my diagram??

Thread Starter
I have been planning for a few days and think i am about read to say I'm comfortable with my WC build I'll be starting next week. However, even after reading a number of threads on the Aquaero 5 and the poweradjust 2 Ultra, I'm still confused, as to whether all of these voltage regulated fans can be run through the Aquaero and PA2, or if I'll have to hook some directly to the PSU instead.

All 120mm fans are 12V and require 6.5v start-up. Power consumption is 2.2 watts. 80mm fans are 12v and require 6v on start-up. I couldn't find wattage requirements, so I'll assume 2.2. I am most interested in the ability to under volt the fans on connection 4 and 1. As far as the air temp sensors, I'd like to be able to run all 8, but if I'm limited to 4, then I'd choose sensors 2, 5, 6, 7, 8.

Please let me know how I could best attach these to the Aquaero 5 Pro and Poweradjust 2 Ultra. Thanks!
Hopefully my diagram is clear, but here is the basic plan

Fans
  • Fan connection 1 - 3 x 80mm - rear fans output (diagram is wrong and shows intake)
  • Fan connection 2 - 3 x 120mm - rad push
  • Fan connection 3 - x 120mm - rad pull
  • Fan connection 4 - 7 x 120mm - 4 fans exhaust & 3 fans intake (diagram is wrong and shows all intake)

WC Sensors
  •
  • D5 MCP655 non-variable speed pump Connection - monitor only.  Power will come straight from PSU to minimize draw on Aquaero
  • Inline water sensor 1 - rad output
  • Inline water sensor 2 - Aquaero output
  • Inline water sensor 3 - CPU output

Air Temp Sensors (4 additional air temp sensors are bitspower)
  • Air temp sensor 1 - rad air in
  • Air temp sensor 2 - pump heat exchange
  • Air temp sensor 3 - Above MOBO
  • Air temp sensor 4 - RAM
  • Air temp sensor 5 - GPU (air cooled)
  • Air temp sensor 6 - Primary HDD bay
  • Air temp sensor 7 - Raid HDD bay
  • Air temp sensor 8 - SSD OS and data drive bay

Thanks. Doesnt the PA2 only have 1 3pin input though?

I guess I could put the 7 front fans that are combined into one 3pin connection on the PA2, but that still leaves 9 fans, a pump, and a bunch of sensors, which seems like its just too many physical connections for the AQ. I dont think I'll go over in the amps or wattage, but I do think I may run out of connections.

Also, do you know if there is any way that the AQ can monitor total PSU power consumption? I'd really like to be able to do that somehow.

Yes, The PA2 only have 1 power output connector and it's a 3 pin type.. The sensors have their own connectors..

I use the daisy chain method as you can connect as many fans as you want without having to worry about the pins falling out due to cable being too thick, as for the rest of your connectors, I suggest..

3 fans + 3 fans + 3 fans + Pump..

Ok thanks!

Do you know if the Aquaero can monitor the AMP and/or watt usage of the PSU? I'd really like to do that within the Aquaero rather than on separate software from my battery backup.

not sure the limitations of the device, but from what I understand, if it can be read with either AIDA64, open hardware monitor, etc.. It can be related to the Aquaero, this is in the beta stage and last I read, only temperatures from AIDA64 and open hardware monitor can be related.

As AIDA64 can read voltage from the PSU lines, CPU Voltage, etc.. This is theoretically possible..

If you want to see how much watt your rig is pulling, there is devices that you can use that plugs into the wall outlet, then your computer to it and there is a display that shows this. Another device that I know of is the Zalman ZM-MFC3 which installs into your 5.25 bay and there is a display that shows the wattage pull up to 999, it also includes 4 Fan controllers.

Phatboy said he was able to run four D5 on the AQ5 by itself, but he does have the waterblock installed and it does depend how much restriction is present in the loop. A very low restriction D5 loop could push the D5 beyond 22 watts which would exceed the listed spec.

I've been working on my AQ5 review for a little while now just trying to learn how to use it, but I will soon do some thermal testing like that. It sounds like with the wateblock that it's possible on one of the four channels though.
