SSSShhhhss:rolleyes:

Need a 5ghz 2600K to prevent a bottleneck.

Where did you come up with that fact.
4.0 pretty well do the job.

Nothing like post counts to get the job done.

Lets see some facts as to his statement.rolleyes.gif

There's a difference between a bottleneck and hitting a limit. 4ghz 920's are not bottlenecks, they are not as fast as 5ghz 2600k obviously. A bottleneck is something akin to a 4 core Phenom II, lol.

Install after burner.

Open it and hit Settings>Monitoring tab. Where it says Active Hardware Monitoring Graphs, tick gpu Usage and gpu Temperature and looking further down the same tab; tick the box that says "Show In On-Screen Display."

Now open the AB Statistics server, the little jet icon with a number on it. Set the application detection level to "High."

Now run the Heaven Bench and watch the gpu usage. You can also close it and have a look at AB if you have it open. You want high numbers on gpu usage; that means the cpu is feeding your gpus almost all they can handle. And your 6990's can handle alot.

You'd like to see a high average. If you eyeball the two purple lines on both sides of the graphs gpu polling you'll see it's a nice high average. The dips are my crappy cpu struggling in BF3.

*Head over to the intel cpu section and do a bit of reading on i7 overclocking. Just to get yourself a bit familiar with what to expect and/or more-or-less do for the actual oc'ing. Just familiarize yourself with some of the terminology and such. Then make a thread asking for some advice and help. Take 'er slow. But even at just 4-4.1 GHz you should see a very big difference in your gpu output.

Good luck, bro.

Edit: Almost forgot. Please take a moment to go and fill in your system specs. As best as you can. It will really help people making suggestions on overclocking your rig when they can get a feel for what's in it at a glance. thumb.gif
And when you make your "Please Help OC my Intel i7 960" thread in the Intel CPUs Section, you can put in the thread that you are a first time overclocker and would like to start off with a relatively moderate (yet decent) oc. They'll get you fixed up, bro.

Well I've installed Afterburner and all I see on my in-game display is the GPU 1 temp.... which was 56 C during BF3.
So how do set it to show me what you wanted to see (GPU usage)?

OK... I got all that except the part where you said "Now open the AB Statistics server, the little jet icon with a number on it."
Where is Statistics Server?
