Driver problem on new build...

So to cut a long story short, here's the problem I've got...

Yesterday I installed the latest Nvidia drivers (285.62) over some old drivers that came on my GPU software so that I could play BF3. BF3 ran great but I started noticing a lot of problems with Windows 7. I concluded that it was some kind of driver conflict. I tried to completely uninstall all Nvidia drivers through the device manager but when I clicked 'uninstall' my screen just went blank and I had to do a manual restart. Then I booted into safe mode and I was able to uninstall them. I also ran Driver Cleaner while I was in there and selected to remove all of the Nvidia stuff I could find. Then I hit a snag...

I re-booted and the damn OS kept auto-installing drivers before I could manually run the latest ones. Anyway, the problems with Windows 7 went away, but I'm now stuck with an older version so I can't play BF3. I thought I could try to uninstall the drivers through the control panel/uninstall menu instead of device manager, but it won't let me. Also, the uninstall menu says I'm currently using version 275.33, but when I click on the Nvidia control panel it says I'm using version 267.85.

This is a real mess. Can anyone help? What I think I need to do is to completely remove all drivers and re-install just the latest ones, but I don't know how.

Do the same thing all over again, but disconnect from the internet so Windows 7 can't do the auto drivers.
