Wanting a Q8300 however I need help.

Yes I am aware that it is quite an old CPU as of today's standards however.
I currently have a E5300 Dual Core Pentium overclocked to 3.4GHz, my motherboard is a custom design as I have a Shuttle SG33G6 XPC

I am wanting to upgrade to a Q8300, the CPU support list on Shuttle's site indicates that I can support a Q8300, however getting to the main question on hand. I am new to overclocking and would like some help regarding to "Core Clock's" (thing in the BIOS) I currently have my Multiplier set to x13 and the core clock at 263, when I stick the core clock to 270 my computer then refuses to POST.

The Q8300 has a stock speed of 2.5GHz however its multiplier is 7.5, if that is true does this mean I am going to have to put up with an under clocked Quad Core and only gain a minor performance boost over my current E5300? Or am I able to exceed the 270MHz Core Clock that I am limited to upon upgrading?

Like I said I am fairly new to overclocking.

Q8xxx only clock well on a select few motherboards. They need high FSB, and GTL settings. It would surprise me if you break 3.0 on a random mobo honestly, so on the majority of games your current setup will be faster.

If all you do is encode video, a quad will be an upgrade, but you may only get 2.8 out of it, if even.

Stock Speed will be fine for me, heck even a 2.8GHz overclock would be great!

I was just worried about under clocking due to the system refusing to POST with the 270MHz Core Clock that I attempt at getting with my current CPU.

So. You don't think the CPU will under clock? Main reason why I want this CPU is because A) I think my E5300 is on its way out and B) My E5300 bottlenecks my graphics card.
