No video, but successful boot. What to do now?

Hey everybody, I seem to have this problem every time I pull apart my computer and put it back together, but usually if I restart it once, or clear CMOS, everything works again. This time, however, I was not so lucky...

When I boot my computer, I get no response out of my monitor(s). I fired up a second laptop which is running ASUS RC TweakIT, which allows me to overclock, turn on/off/restart and clear CMOS, as well as a poster to display BIOS messages that normally would be sent out the serial port. This is how I know that everything boots fine, because it comes to "Boot Successful" or "CMOS error" when I clear CMOS and I need to load defaults by pressing F1.

Still, I am not sure why I cannot see video. I have tried multiple monitors, adaptors, etc. Including an apple cinema display which is a true mini displayport. I have even tried in all 12 input ports(even though I know it doesn't matter).

Does anybody have any clue how to help with this?

Thanks

Mike

If you don't see POST screen but computer can boot into Windows, set in BIOS the 5870 as first initialiazed PCIe?

I can't see anything at all... And I am not sure what you mean there... This motherboard does not have onboard video, and the only PCIe cards are the two 5870's. And since there is nothing on the screen at all, I cannot get into the BIOS setup screen.

Maybe you plug the monitor to the wrong primary 5870? You can try each one of them, just in case maybe one of them has issue. If you are able to see the boot process from your notebook went thru, it has something to do with your display or maybe one of the card where the monitor hook up to is not properly locked in the PCIe slot.

Oh I see what you mean... but I don't think I can because I know the computer booted successfully, but at no point do I have any video. not when I start up the computer, not in post, not in windows. I know it boots into windows because I can hear the startup sound if I wait a minute

BY GEORGE! THE NINTENDO METHOD WORKED!

I took the cards out, blew on them, and put them back in, and it worked like a champ! Still doesn't explain why it will randomly happen, sometimes without even dismantling my computer, but hey, there was no real rhyme or reason for getting those nintendo cartridges to work either!
