2/1/2012 Update

Ordered some other stuff:

IMG_0398copy.png

IMG_0401copy.png

I will be going quad-fire watercooled 7970's now. Instead of using the Rampage IV for the Media Rig, I will be transferring the 7970's to that board and using the crossfire 6990's on the ASRock Extreme9. I wasn't sure I could do this and use my LSI Raid controller card since it uses 8x pcie lanes, but after looking over the ASrock manual it looks like it will work perfectly with each 6990 GPU using 8x lanes each. Here is the loop plan for the Gaming Rig:

GamingRigLoop.png

I hope one 560 will be sufficient for that setup. If not, I may consider using the MO.RA3 instead. My thoughts were since the 7970's run much cooler and use less power than the 6990's that it would be better to save the huge radiator for the more power hungry setup...Although with 4 individual 7970's I'm not sure that is even relevant any more.

Right now things are a bit slow as I'm waiting for the 4 Koolance AR7970 GPU blocks which unfortunately were shipped directly from the manufacturer via ground. So I won't be getting those until next week. So in the mean time I'll probably be updating with some benchmarks and misc pictures of parts used throughout the build.

Glad to hear it. That is what I thought would be best. And also the 560 might be a little small if you care about really good temps. Can't you go with the 560 on the other side and have 2 560's?

Well, I could but unfortunately I've got the other side housing all of my storage devices. I could migrate them all into the chambers with the motherboards, but I would have to do some rearranging. I've been contemplating about possibly using the pedestal for radiators instead of a server. I bought a nice entertainment center desk that would fit a small atom server quite nicely....So that's been a growing temptation lol. I like the idea of running two 560's, one for the GPU's and one for the CPU. I appreciate the suggestions!

ohh, an update!! biggrin.gif

Might just be a typo or something, but in the pic it says "pump". You're not running 5 blocks, res and big-ass rad off one pump, are you? tongue.gif
Also, the 560 would be great for 4x gpu but add a high-end cpu... Could use a 240 more or somthing.. What res are you using btw? smile.gif
