Sorry guys, I may be very slow to updating for a bit as we received news our baby could be due any day now, so needless to say I've been frantically getting things situated for his arrival! Thanks for the kind comments by the way...I appreciate them all, whether constructional criticism or props.
Anyhow, I dismantled everything inside of the case the other night to swap the quadfire 7970's onto the RIVE from the X79 Extreme9 mainboard. I took this time to start tiding up and organizing my wiring as well. In the middle of this work I also received some goodies, but I'll let the pictures do the talking.
Here is the existing wiring in the mid chamber between the two mainboards...It's a mess:
All the guts transferred....dual 3960X's, crossfire 6990's and quadfire 7970's:
I bought some of the new Monsoon compression fittings with the neat tool that allows you to tighten the fittings much easier than traditional methods...plus they look pretty cool:
With them on the Extreme9:
With them on the RIVE:
Finally, my Koolance VID-AR797's came in:
And the rest of my fans for the MO.RA and 560 rads, with a fan controller for the MO.RA:
Unboxed Koolance VID-AR797 water block:
A naked reference 7970:
water block installed....3 more to go:
One interesting note that I want people to know about the XFX7970's vs. other brands (well, at least Sapphire in my case) is the back plate that surrounds the GPU has stickers on the screws that, if punctured, will void your warranty. The Sapphire does not. I thought that was pretty crappy.
I've got another shipment of parts I am waiting on in the mean time- Some quick disconnects, Koolance VID-connectors, additional bitfenix extensions and a dual mcp35x pump for the Media Rig. Stay tuned!
